Unfortunate as it may sound, this AU story makes sense as only having one chapter. Simply put, the plot of Evenicle does not fit Rance's style. Rance's whole shtick is raping any girl that he comes across and might form a connection with later (or never). Evenicle's plot forbids this, so basically inserting Rance into the story just breaks it. Evenicle is pretty stringent with the whole "you may only fuck this many people" system, which is something Rance will never accept.

It's also pretty big on the whole 'Aster's need for clear rules / justice' that is even spelled out at the end of the game by QD, which doesn't fit Rance at all, most of the plot wouldn't even work with Rance since he wouldn't have been interested in most of it.

I loved Evenicle and other Alicesoft games, as well. I never played a Rance game, though. I wonder if playing Evenicle as Rance would make me want to go play the Rance games, or if it would ruin the original Evenicle experience. I'm not a fan of rape.
Rance style rape...is...well...Special.

I can't remember the term for his archetype...but he's a raging idiot. He bumbles through life, but somehow manages to end up on top (in more ways than one)

Sill is part of the reason. She is his "slave" but in name only. She is deeply in love with Rance. He probably is too, but either is too dense, or just won't admit it. Sill does everything she can to protect her Rance.

As for the Rance Rape...He's overbearing and aggressive...but all the women he goes after...actually are attracted to him in some way, and actually are willing, even if they don't openly admit it. Some of them in the Rance series are actually in love with him. (It's a plot device, and would be a spoiler if I gave any other information than that...)

HOWEVER...Rance has morals. He doesn't go after Lolis. Well...Not technically. He wants them to mature before he makes them his. :D

Which is so cliché, in every possible Anime/Manga/VN, hentai or not. So it's not really unique from this point eh. And even the fact that he's a raging idiot is the same cliché used in every way possible anywhere. So, again, I don't really see all of this "uniqueness" that many claims to have.

It's not rape, it's the surprise sex the girls didn't know they wanted. I don't mean that as the meme, either - just about every character Rance assaults finds themselves enjoying it, and in Sengoku Rance it's shown that he genuinely doesn't think he's doing anything wrong. Obviously he is, in fact, a rapist, but it's played for laughs rather than drama, and the women involved rarely show much beyond anger.

He also does have a FEW morals; for example, he doesn't go for lolis, and the one time he fucked one (due to magic aging her up) he was horrified when the spell wore off. Rance is also violently protective of children, and opposes rape (though, as noted, he doesn't perceive any of his actions as rape).

If you're firmly opposed to rape, then avoid the Rance series, but if it's just something you don't enjoy (but can tolerate) then absolutely give it a try. Rance is hilarious, and some of the characters are incredibly well developed for a porn game.

I avoid rape because, when it happens, it turns me off rather than on. I like many types of games, and I have a tendency to enjoy corruption themes, but I do enjoy many vanilla games, as well. When I encounter rape in them, it usually is just a small part of the game and/or doesn't ruin the experience, and most times it makes sense in the plot and can even enrich the story.

I "hated" Colpis, Croix, Natal and Lorenzo rape parts in Evenicle, as it was an evil thing happening to likable characters, but it was something that had to happen to show the setting and mark the tone of the game, and it made the story stronger, imho. It was actually something that motivated the "hero party" to fight the "evil forces" and it made sense in a dark fantasy setting. The scene where Aster force raped the dragon girl, however, wasn't really necessary, imho, and I didn't really enjoy it.

Mh.. I am not a fan of rape, but for the Rance games, its made so utterly hilarious, that I enjoyed them quite a bit. As for the theory with Sil... he is in love with her, but either doesen't want to admit it or is just too shy to do so. (yeah, Rance = shy, never ever huh? lol)

I enjoyed Evenicle but agree that Rance very much doesnt fit in that setting. Only if being the bad Overlord to overthrow the Principles making up the world of Evenicle and thus fighting the Goddess ;D

So could someone please finally answer if this is only a re-skin of Chapter 1, or is it actually a rewrite, making things more Rance-y?

Was a pre-order bonus which stars Rance as the main character instead of Aster through the events of Evenicle up to the end of chapter 1.
I mean.. if this doesn't answer your question, I honestly don't know what to tell you other than there are three pages. Not 92384929. And you can check for yourself since people already answered this question even though it's clearly written...

we probably get it in 2021 or something knowing mangagamer lol
Thing is, all the Rance games since Kichikuou have had huge scripts. Sengoku, Quest (plus magnum) and 9 were all pretty comparable to the Kisekis Xseed did. With a bigger staff than Mangagamer has. Rance X is the largest script of any video game so far by a large margin, over twice as large as F/SN, Clannad, Sen no Kiseki and other well known huge script games. It's gonna take a while.

All right, fair enough.

I'll admit that (only now) checking the VNDB page's discussion thread, there is a comment from a few days ago which says "[...], just new dialogue for Rance", and heck, the few posts here relevant to my question made me assume that a rewrite scenario was the case, but as we all know assuming only makes an ass out of u and ming (sorry, u, Mings), and the very same question on the first page not having been answered, I thought I would ask for clarification... :)

Hell, even the game description you quoted and the sample pictures are only indicative but not decisive. That said, it's true I should have just dl'ed it and checked it out myself.

And this only being a re-skin or whatevs to call it would have been one of the most stupid, lame-ass pre-order bonuses of all time, I heard or witnessed even stranger and/or stupider things at least twice. Just this week! lol
Anyhoo, I digress.

EDIT: well, okay
I enjoyed this so much more than the actual story of evenicle. Rance really is the best.
should've given it away for me, too. Guess I was too thick (and/or too tired when glancing through the thread). And I'm still typing... Way to make an elephant out of an ant, me! xD

game is good but i think if the game has bad ends from decisions like i don't see why u cant be a ruler and still go on a journey it has a hard combat system and when u retry a fight after u lose u should keep the skills u had equipped after each retry
