VN - Others - Completed - Evenicle [v1.04] [AliceSoft]

I wasn't planning on writing a review; I usually don't unless a game meets one of two extremes for me; I think it's incredible, or it's trash, and, unfortunately, this game that was, until a couple hours ago, slightly above average for me just feel into the trash category.

~ Story?

I honestly like the story; it's nothing groundbreaking, mind you, and it pulls from many other works of fiction throughout history, but it does so in a way that's fluent, believable, and fun to play through.

~ Artwork?

I like the characters a lot; the models are all unique, fit their personalities well, and very attractive to the eye. However, the gameworld itself and the monsters are pretty low quality, though still charming in its own way.

~ Characters?

I'm pretty neutral on the characters. I like them, but they're fairly common tropes and not majorly memorable. Asta is a kindhearted pervert (though his obsession with breasts at the beginning of the story does get a little obnoxious at times, even for an H game). Ramius is a classic dimwitted titty monster. Gurigura the innocent Loli. Riche is the wannabe prim and proper lady, though, in reality, she's no more than an uptight bitch that tries to control every breath Asta takes like he's some worthless dog. Etcetera etcetera, you get the point.

~ Voice Acting?

I'm not usually a fan of it in H games like this, but I have to admit, it was done really well.

~ Gameplay?

At some points, addicting; at others, tedious. In one word? Fun.

~ Ending Thoughts?

Okay, so I was originally going to give the game a 3-4 star rating, but now, it's a 1. So, what the hell happened for the game to receive such a sharp drop, you might be wondering?

One word. Rape.

I have never in my time of playing H games - and I've played a damn lot of them - found a game that possessed such pointless, uninspired, unnecessary, and just downright pathetic attempts at creating drama with rape scenes.

I don't know what the writer was going for with them; perhaps tension, but I can tell you this, I felt more tension whenever I pushed my XP grinding greed too far and almost died then I ever did during one of the tasteless rape scenes.

I cannot describe them as anything less than pathetic, and they devoured any sense of immersion and fun I felt whenever they came up. All I could think whenever they did appear was thank GOD for the skip button.

Masterpiece. One of the best hentai jrpg in the market.
Unlike many other hentai games, this one actually have a decent and compelling story.
The art is just top notch fappable material.
Gameplay is a little bit boring, and there's even random encounter, which I really hate in RPG. It's still a very good game.
Conclusion: Worth your time, JUST PLAY IT.

Ok first of all i played a lot of H games and most of them are very good , but when it comes to this game i feel like i have to give a review of it or else it will haunt me, its that good.
The story is pretty okey and it is like most action anime movies, fighting through enemies and regarding the enemies there is huge variety in it with each of them having different abilities and weaknesses.
The thing i like most about the game except the cg scenes is the combat with multiple abilities on each heroes. However we cannot use all the abilities but we can select the skills according to our skill points to match our desired gameplay.
With huge world map and tonne of side quest and beautiful juicy girls out there it would be a shame to miss this game.

Alright, the h scenes are good and plentiful, the story surprisingly good, and the mechanics good as well. All in all, a good game and not just a good h game.

But that's not what I really want to talk about. I'd like to talk about the main difference I've seen with this game opposed to most; how the "love maxed out, come back for new scene" was not what I expected. Normally, you fill that bar, then go back for a bonus h scene, and that's what I I thought it would be. To my surprise, most of these (that I've seen) have been more relationship and love focused than sex. It really warmed a part of me that I thought had long since atrophied and died. Call me a bitch, but I teared up multiple times while going through them.

The game manages to start a lot of spinning plates, and somehow keep them all balanced. Comedy, tragedy, romance and eroticism, serious and lighthearted all in doses that don't linger a moment longer than effective. Highly recommend, and may it awaken a part in you as it did me.

It's not on the same level of fun and craziness as Rance but it's still a really good time, the girls are really cute and all have very cliche but enjoyable arc and personality, mc is fine, not a wimp and knows what he wants.

Gameplay is good turn based combat, not too hard but enjoyable.

The story is nothing special but the idea of being able to marry more girl the higher rank you are is really entertaining and a good motivation.

Overall a good time and a good first entry in what seems to be a new franchise from alice-soft !

It's a decent game. Not really for me though. Gameplay is a bit too generic. Plot is too childish. We got cute and quirky characters and a kind hearted perv MC. Basically, I think the tone of the game is like Disgaea with hentai. Porn aspect is too vanilla to get a rise out of me and the art style is too cutesy. It has great production value and very nice voice acting though. People who like more light hearted stories would certainly enjoy this.

Artwork
Evenicle's Artwork is excellent. Each character presented has a unique look that fits the theme and characteristics of the game. While style preference is subjective, you definitely cannot argue that the characters aren't painstakingly designed.

Voice Acting
The game is partially voice acted, in that normal character interactions are not voice acted, but event scenes that propel the story, as well as the H-scenes are. The quality of the voice acting is great too.

Translation
In terms of translation, it can be considered professional with no grammatical errors. However, it is worth noting that the translation may not be 100% faithful to the actual line spoken, though it does not affect the tone of the game much.

Story
I believe the story is where Evenicle really shines. It has its own lore and pantheon, and draws inspirations from Knights of the Round table, as well as the 7 deadly sins.

The pacing of the story is great, and since it is a pretty lengthy game split across multiple chapters, it allows the characters to be developed fully, overcoming their own challenges and conflicts along the way. This is true not only for the main characters, but for the supporting characters as well.

In true RPG fashion, you get to travel the world of Evenicle, exploring the different landscapes and weather. Each region has its own quirks and colorful cast of characters, and there is never a dull moment when it comes to adventuring to a new country. There are some genuinely funny moments too.

Gameplay
Evenicle has a pretty straightforward turn-based gameplay. That said, the complexity comes from how you build your characters, since each character has different skillsets that can be helpful in different situation. Initially you will have more skill points than needed, but toward the end you will be hard pressed to consider which skills to bring into a battle. There are also gear variations for each character.

It is not incredibly grindy, but do not expect to breeze through the game fighting only mandatory enemies. In earlier chapters you will level up pretty naturally since the chapters are long, but towards the end game, the chapters are shorter and the bosses ramp up the difficulty quite a bit, so expect some grinding at least.

There are also various optional collectibles in the game, from cartography to monster and landmark collections. Rewards are given for collecting these, and it provides some interaction between the characters, which is a nice touch.

Miscellaneous Points

• Playtime: Quite lengthy, took me about a 5 days or so of play.
• Completion: 100%
• Not all H-scene actions are depicted in CG. E.g. when the text reads a boob is grabbed, the visual may not depict the said boob being grabbed.
• The potions sold in shops scale in pricing based on how many of them you already own, as well as how far you've progressing in the main story. The same store owner that sells you a potion for 50 gold may in later part of the game, ask for 40000 gold for the same exact item.

Closing
Evenicle is definitely one of the must-try eroges out there. Story-rich, funny and engaging gameplay, I couldn't recommend Evenicle enough.

The gameplay's alright (and that's from someone who dislike turn-based RPGs) and the story is good, even without the porn.

Drawings are decent but the faces look wierd and some of the non-optional content can get pretty nasty (rape that litterally ruins lives, gore, loli, etc) but they're few and far between.

There's so much to say about this game. It's part RPG, part VN, and part hentai game.

The VN part seems fine and well written - I don't really like VNs so I skipped past a lot of the dialogue. The characters are all distinct and well designed. The story is honestly better than it has any right to be, its understandable and actually deals with some complex themes.

The RPG part is actually pretty good, the best I've palyed in an h-game. It is well balnced and the gameplay was actually fun with just enough challenge for an h-game.

The h-game part is where it falls apart for me. The art is a little bland to be honest, it shiny looking digital art. The h-scenes are kinda few and far between, I encountered only a half-dozen after 10 hrs of play. The biggest issue was the complete lack of animation. Maybe I've been spoiled by Summertime Saga but I feel like high quality games like this should have animation at this point.

I was enjoying my time with it until I realised I was just playing it for the RPG part , not the h-game part, and should probably spend my time with a higher quality RPG instead. So I deleted it after 10 hrs and went and picked up Dragon Quest XI (which is great).

This game would be one of my all time faves if they cut the length in half and spent the additional resources on 1) better art 2) more h-scenes and 3) ANIMATIONS.

Probably contains the highest production value you'll ever find in a HRPG. The art is of the highest caliber (it's the same dude that draws for senran kagura), the gameplay is amazing, the story is good, the characters amazing, the lore is rich. The whole package just comes together extremely well and leaves no room for improvement on what they set out to accomplish.

Really the only complaint people could possibly have are prefference related, ie: not featuring their fetish or not liking the protagonist.

even with the rapes and monsters (i personally dont like that) the game its just too good, one of the best games in my opinion, a excelent story that make you feel inside the game, the MC love sex but isnt a Jerk, thats good in my opinion, a game you should give it a try 10/10

Very fun game, the combat is easy to understand, and the dialogue is not boring. My only real complaint is that the objectives are a little difficult to figure out, if there was a quest log I will gladly make it a 5 star.

I've seen and made games of 60 GB and 60 millions that are far below this one.

Game pacing is nearly perfect, it never get boring.
The skills are really well balanced.
Dialogues are light but well written.
The few side quests are short and well motivated and rewarded.
The characters are very well distinguished and well written.
The story hold very well despite the lenght of more than 60 hr.
And for the few that understand a little of japanese , the voice acting is one of the best

Good game, worth every time spent.

Evenicle is pretty interesting type of visual novel combined with some RPG action.

The story itself is quite enjoyable with all those sexual jokes and some grim moment combined. I have to admit pretty immersed with it and I am quite satisfied with different personalities of the characters given on the game.

As for the content, the story was delivered pretty good eventhough certain part is quite obvious to guess. For the RPG section, I have to say its a bit grindy to get level, gold, and such, not to mention for random skill drop that you have from killing random mobs. I would say it has its replaybility value, but might as well satisfied after clearing the game 1 or 2 times.

Another thing that I like is the soundtrack on this game. They are pretty simple and catchy to remember. it makes the game more lively with it. Next probably would be the art, its' cute and i guess funny enough. I like how they depicts extreme scenes but in a matter its still enjoyable.

Good game, at first i was not really interested to this when the game released back few years ago. I thought this game was lame but I was wrong. Fell in love with it.

I would definitely support the maker for this one. Looking forward for the sequel.

PS: I really like Kath a lot. I dunno but Nerdies sure has their own charms.

Been playing this game ALOT of times and enjoy every dialog, characters, jokes and everything about the game thank you for giving us a great game ALICESOFT your work is very mich appreciated hope you the best! I reccommend this game for everyone some scene might want you to stop playing it but please stick with it can turn around, thank 5 stars!

A really great rpg that has a good story to back it up.

A linear game that will keep you busy as long as you can get invested into the characters.

The art is really beautiful as well as well as having really nice 18+ scenes the game will keep you happy from beginning to end.

Excellent!!! The story, music, art, gameplay are all fantastic, but the real draw is the comedy and sexiness. Lighthearted story that has dark moments but is great nonetheless. The events all lead up to heartwarming moments. If a game could be described as fluffy and cute, this is it.

It's a better JRPG than it is a porno, which is not to say it's a particularly great JRPG. The story is rather one-note, following the formula of "Aster wants to fuck, but he wants to do it consensually and legally. Here is a rape as a plot device to give you 'righteous anger' about the guys who don't do that. Hamfisted evil secret society owns the guys who rape and now ya gotta go to the place and do the quest to beat them. Rinse, repeat, here's a new waifu." Aside from that gripe, the art is pretty great, the game was fun enough to finish if you like turn-based RPG combat as much as I do, and there was a lot more to enjoy than to not. A lot of the characters are pretty simple archetypes, but their designs are nice and the humor around them wasn't laugh-out-loud funny so much as endearing meaning by the end of the game I enjoyed seeing all of them as much as I could. The lore is full of exposition to introduce people like me to the Alicesoft franchise without being too overbearing and it is a decently creative twist of religious symbolism. It could easily be just a generic JRPG but with the added idea of it being a harem hentai there is a certain novelty to it. Overall it could have been a much more boring, overdone, unenjoyable experience with how much it relied on tropes that come with the fantasy RPG formula, but its execution outshines its concept and it came out to be a pretty memorable and enjoyable experience just by how well it used what it was given. Looking forward to whatever sequel there will be.

Plenty of problems. Not really sure how people sat through

First and foremost: the combat is repetitive as hell. The trash mobs are easy, and they pop up every two seconds. Boss battles take forever to actually become challenging, and when they do the same tactic is used to win over and over again, it seems.

The plot is practically non-existent. Constant exposition about everything, and no conflict whatsoever. The plot only actually starts close to the end of each chapter, at least as far as post chapter 1 is concerned. It's very easy to zone out on the drivel the characters spew and find you have no idea how to proceed.
Aster's goal of stopping Serpent Crest isn't very believable. He wants to destroy them because they are evil. I presume this means he thinks he's one of the good guys. I dunno about that. Really. He never speaks about anything else but girls and boobs. Even when he's hunting Snake Crest, that's all that comes out of his mouth. There's a huge disconnect between Aster's motivations and the antagonistic force. Relate this to Sengoku Rance. Rance knows literally nothing about Xavier until he does a certain thing to a certain girl that he likes. That's when Xavier becomes Rance's enemy and Rance seeks to annihilate his face.
Then again, even Snake Crest itself makes no sense. They claim to want to start a war. Why? They never say. They never even try to outline their motives. Like, what the fuck is that? How do they even get recruits? I don't even know what I'm fighting against, or even if I should want to stop them. That brings me on to my next gripe.

The world is disgusting, and that's why I wouldn't mind if Snake Crest started a war. Everyone is a zealot, and nobody even THINKS to question the incredibly unfair and unjust system that governs humanity. I'm supposed to care about these people?
If you kill or have sex with more than one partner, you become an outlaw. So what is a normal person supposed to do if they get attacked by an outlaw, or anybody, for that matter? I also like how 99% of the outlaws were crazy and unethical bandits. How black and white could the game possibly be? And again, Aster fails us all here, because despite being full of potential and really strong, he just becomes one of the mob. A mob he literally had no inkling about, considering he comes from a tiny island that has had little contact with the outside world.
This would be okay if that was just how he felt at first and then began to change, but I played through 3/4's of the game and there was no sign of it happening, meaning even if it did happen, that's a shitty character arc. You'd think it would begin when he finds the village of girls who are suffering unfairly under his god's laws. But nope, keep the status quo mindlessly, NOBODY question it.

Finally, the characters are trash. Face it. Aster is an annoying Marty Stu, and the only character that has a personality is Ramius, and that's at her best. Riche's a wet paper bag, Gurigura has her head up her ass until her spidey senses are needed and Kathryn is a moody aggressive bitch. But seriously, Aster is far too perfect to be even remotely likable even if he wasn't an annoying fuck. The Twins even say that they didn't understand love until they saw him as a child. Like... yuck.
And lets be honest, it makes no sense that all the women are happy for Aster to have a harem. In five chapters, he's the only dude to have one, so this obviously isn't even a common thing. Man, what I'd give for Ramius to turn around and introduce Aster to her second husband. But no, can't have that. Gotta keep the writing contrived and shitty.

I wanted to like this game because it's Alicesoft, that's why I'm mad. Despite seeing the flaws, I pushed on because I like Alicesoft and wasted tons of time in the process. I am not kidding in the slightest when I say I see nothing of value here except for art and soundtrack. Shame MangaGamer is taking so damn long releasing Rance 8.

I love RPG's and this would have been a 5 but the MC loses 2 points just for existing.

The story is pretty standard fare but done well enough to hold interest. The characters are all pretty well done with the wives all being pretty great. The side stuff is your typical RPG filler content but none of it is forced and some of it is really good fun, I even enjoyed getting a lot of the collectibles.

Now onto why the MC costs the game 2 points but first I want to note that I was going to give it 2 stars because of this MC but the wives saved it.

Simply put he's a horny teenager with a low IQ that only thinks about sex and boobs. That in itself is not a bad thing however it's also all he talks about. His entire personality revolves around breasts and sex, that's it. He has no character growth nor does he have any redeeming features. It's pretty much Beavis and Butthead levels of humour. If you find someone saying boobs a lot hilarious then you'll love the guy but if that's not your thing you'll hate him like I did.

If you took Rance, gave him a lobotomy then stuck him in a room with a bunch of horny 14 year olds watching 90's television you'd end up with a guy like the MC here.

Not all wives are equal either. You will find yourself liking a couple of them but, depending on tastes, you probably won't like them all.
