It's the magnifying glass. You can also use that tab to change the censor bar to something else if you're not in Expert mode (otherwise, i think it's in the tab with the wrench icon)
How do you change to nsfw mode. I accidentally chose safe mode and redownloading didnt change anything

I don't remember any ads but you can try blocking the game via the Windows firewall. Add new rules blocking incoming and outgoing connections for the game's EXE.
