Hmm, not the best idea. There have been four developers for Evil 2 (spectre1viper, jessicajones, noobtrain, skybarbie) and none of them have tried to profit off of it. If someone did create a Patreon, subscribestar, or other account and asked for donations, they would essentially be getting money for the hard work of the other four developers (who released their work for free) unless the new author just created a mod for the game on a separate F95Zone game page (that would be fine).
Noobtrain and I are recent developers for Evil 2 and we welcome a new developer picking up the torch and continuing development. We only ask that new developers stay true to the Evil 2 game world and the work of previous developers. The reason I say this is that we've had two developers in the past that attempted to change the game in a negative way (giving drugs to children and having sex with children as two examples). In both cases one of us had to step in and restore the proper game mechanics/balance. We also had one player who changed four lines of code and wanted to be listed as a developer for the game. Noobtrain and I try to monitor the game to keep it healthy and on track. Sometimes we take breaks and aren't around for a while however.
The two main reasons why noobtrain and I stopped developing for the game:
- Lack of player feedback and support - lots of work for little thanks - roughly 12 players would like the release post and that's all the thanks we got 98% of the time - if we ever complained about this players would call us "attention whores" or "praise whores"
- Problems with the moderation team on F95Zone - I won't go into details here but it's ugly (multiple instances)
Most of the attention on F95Zone goes to the visual novels or Ren'Py games. QSP games have a small niche following and don't get near the attention that the rendered visual novels get. Future developers won't get much thanks or praise which is a negative factor for someone else to pick up this game and continue development. It would have to be a labor of love and not for monetary gain, praise, or attention (IMO).
We do welcome a new developer to pick up this game and make it even better!
