Excitement Over The Future Of Adult Games

This is kind of spring board thought I had from a thread I just made about dream game ideas that never were, but I've just realized how excited and cautiously optimistic I am to see what comes of the adult game industry in the next few years. I still remember how impressed I was when I played a game called Sarah's Life (although fuck that dev), and it's pretty crazy to think how far things have advanced from that, in just over two years. And now when I see talented creators like Lewdlab, Philly Games and Dr PinkCake who are currently in the midst of developing their follow up projects, and noticing what a significant upgrade they seem to be over their previous works, it's honestly really cool. Especially considering these guys are really all just self taught amateurs who never had any formal training in game development, but have still managed to find success.

So I guess ultimately my question is, that provided the unfortunate event that the bottom falls out of this industry doesn't occur, what do you hope for to happen the most over the next 3, 4 or 5 years? For me personally, I hope developers branch out to create more unique, story driven games that gain legitimacy as being high quality, mature visual novels rather than just a thing people download to jerk off to.

I was actually talking about this with Philly on Discord a few nights ago. In a few years, we could be seeing fully animated 3d games. The technology is already there, just no one has the render network and manpower to do it yet.

And hopefully more artists switch to using Octane once it becomes free this year.

Personaly I hope to see more varity to gameplay. To look look forward to all games being story driven VNs is like all games being FPS's or all movies being marvel movies.
To be clear I'm not knocking VNs and if you are making a game mainly to tell a story they're the way to go.

well, Render coin will help with that. But with some Daz assists just don't convert well into octane. The main thing that holds back better development right now is Money, Finding the exact market for your Adult title and lack of adequate Rendering gear. The other problem is funding mechanisms having to change course to please patreons otherwise your broke. So many people do not want the story development just the fuck. We don't cave to that but still many do. Hopefully, I can talk Ptolemy into branching out a bit but he is still wounded from Dana

I think you hit the nail on the head regarding funding mechanisms. As long as there's low "job security", this industry will always be a passionate run by hobbyists market. Unless you're making crazy money like some of the guys in the top 10 on Patreon, it's hard to justify the costs and risks of expanding outside of developing out of your bedroom. Patreon can just shut the entire thing down any second.

Once we see better funding options, I think this industry will explode in quality content.

Expanding on that need to have the ability for established Developer to be able to do 3,6 and 12 months Prepaid memberships. Make it less of a burden to allow more freedom

Considering it's been a while since I 1st played the original "Date ArianeB", after seens a lot of more hentai games, which some are cool but not my liking, then seeing more 3D models in the Lession of Passion games, and later even MORE here, the "industry" is going nicely. There are some really talented devs that with more funding and a bigger team, they could do even greater things.
Still, most of them with a handful of people, made some of the best games and VN this community has to offer.

As of now, I'm loving this "golden age" (maybe) of 3D western made games.

Couldn't have put it better myself. But what I want additionally is larger organized groups working on big projects. The main constraint in adult game development seems to be that most games are made by individual developers or small groups. I can only imagine what could be achieved if specialists banded together to work on bigger projects. But then, there lies the problem of marketing and distributing their products to make a substantial profit.

Like more uncensored videos, better tagging and searching, and possibly an adult gaming platform thats far more developed than it currently is. Hopefully in 5 years Patreon will be as dead as Myspace and something will have replaced it with something better in every way but thats wishful thinking there.

What is future? Definitelly games builded fully on engines like UE or Unity with full 3D animations. Biggest limitation this day is when player made decision what change characters look, you must use it into all renders you do. That is why there is not too much options like that in recent games. But in 3D model using game, you just made this change to model and in all scenes player will do it will be alright, without more work.

But for this project, you need more people and money, and if players will still support the same devs this forward never come.
During that 2 years changed a lot, but now we are little on same spot. Games changing now just slightly. Because we reach border from where adding more quality means spending XXXtimes more time.

I never used Fakku much back then. Personally I like the route they have taken. The only thing I miss is when Newgrounds was all the rage. It's not the same really.

I still check it from time to time, its still active just a shadow of its former self. It used to be the beacon of adult flash games; now you can find almost everything on there here, but in a much better format. It kind of reminds me of the days of voice chat when it was blowing up on the 360 and ps3 where you would join lobbies and everyone was talking to each other. Both were simpler times that died along with the introduction of newer and better technology.

We need more variety and quality in these games from both a story and design standpoint.

That is what I'm saying. Now we are at stale point, because make characters look different is easy. Fine make enviroments like bedroom bathroom and others, yes you can make them looks different, but it takes really some bigger amount of time and last thing is clothes.
