Tim.E.Pants was always upfront that this was completely a side project that he worked on only in his spare time. The only people coping are the ones who got scammed by ICSTOR or some other milker dev and decided to take it out by shitting up this thread.

It's Abandoned until I see an update bud, Dev has kept pushing back release dates for over a year now.

Yes, it's frustrating how slow the updates come. But, that is 'as advertised'.
On the upside, when they do finally come out, the updates are reasonably substantial.
Simple.
F95 rules are that if a game (that doesn't have the 'Complete' tag) doesn't receive an update within 13 months (I think, someone please double-check me on that), it automatically receives the 'Abandon' tag. Regardless of on-going development activity.
In other words... Just because someone at F95 slapped the tag on the tread, doesn't mean it's actually abandon.
PS. Declaring 'check-mate' when you just lost makes you look pretty stupid.

Citation needed because I've followed this thread and the dev's discord for longer than that and, as far as I can remember, the only date Timmie ever gave was the end of March 2023 (which, admittedly, he did miss but a single instance does not equal a pattern)
Living your life on the assumption that you will never see an update to Exiles is perfectly rational after so long without one. Would I like to see one? Sure but do I expect to see one? No

On top of which, there are multiple games even recently that wound up getting hit with the Abandoned tag only to have them release a new update shortly afterwards. Some devs that work on larger updates or who work on multiple games at once can easily take a year or so to update (especially the ones who are doing game dev more as a hobby than a job).
So while the Abandoned tag is a pretty good indicator that a game is dead, it's not a total guarantee. And devs who remain in relatively active contact with the audience are usually more likely to eventually update than the ones who are mostly non-communicative and then just up and disappear.
