VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Eye of the Storm [Ch. 1-12] [Mr. Rigg]

One of the best and most atmospheric game I've ever played. Such a pity that all the bullying killed off this great game. Makes me really sad and mad. Maybe someday Mr.Rigg would pick it up once again and complete the story.

I dunno, I found the game awesome. Truly great character art (an ugly one does not hurt as long as you can decide not to interact), not too shabby story, choices that matter. Ok, MC does not need to call himself ape, but whatever. Too bad that this was abandoned.

From what i can gather, the game's abandoned and it's going to stay in the sense that half the game is clearly rushed and your choices have no impact on the story beyond showing or withholding scenes (which ofc is circumvented by the Back button and save scumming).

This could've been a 4 star game if it were complete, but only 4 because the sex scenarios get bland; too much voyeur for my taste as you develop relationships over the 12 days and the creator's inability to complete the game (for whatever reason, i'm not judging, i'm just stating how it is) makes the pay off in the later days when you do have sex they're escalated only because the writing and characters of the first 6 days were great

The game and characters are awesome.
I love the premise of the game and the characters in the game are very distinct from each other and unique. There is no copy and past, cardboard cut out characters in the game regarding personality. Each girl is quite unique and charming in her own way.

There is a couple of nasty surprises along with some nasty characters thrown in to spice the story up.

All and all for me, this works out to a nice and fresh approach to the game and story. The Girls are all very attractive and the rendering are done reasonable well. But the different personalities are the star of the game.

The MC is a bit of a grey character, but enjoyable in his own way.

This brings me to the negative in the game in it's current state.
To keep the story going, the dev decided to trim the decision paths in the game in quite a jarring way. This means that the game forces you to play the game in the one "canon" route, disregarding some of your previous choices.

For this I have to score the game with 4 stars instead of 5. I hope the dev revisits the missing paths once he completed the story as that will raise this game from good to excellent, and would make it one of my favourite games on the site.

Pweh where should i start..

First of all, if you want to Play this game, be aware that this game goes way beyond the Tags that are shown. It does have Rape (unavoidable) including Girls being raped, as well as the MC being raped himself! If thats not your cup of Tea, just dont play this game.

However this is for this game just the tip of the Iceberg, if you expect any form of Story that makes sense whatsoever, you will not find it here.
And not the usual "Oh hello, nice tits.. lets fuck" kind of way. But rather you go from being Teased by a Girl to being raped yourself (by Men) with next to no context and no warning.
The Story evolves around a huge Storm that hits a certain Area, rivers can apparently not be crossed, which is literally the ONLY reason why you are stuck with those Girls, yet there is a Girl joining you at some point. She crossed the River in her Car, then stays for a Day or two and then leaves again. Crossing said River AGAIN, and sure you can reason that its Dangerous and the MC being how he is doesnt really want to take a lot of risks. But thats just to show you that you will have one WTF moment after another when you play this game. Overall most of what you do, see and get yourself into, does not make any sense whatsoever.

Sure you can say that to some degree about most Erotic games, however in this case its like if you would say that the Typical "Broken young guy, has to go back home to live with his mother" is in desperate need of a Job to buy ANYTHING, suddenly finds a Million Dollars, but yet your Main Objective is still to go and find a Job to earn Money.

You do have Choices in this Game, and there might be consequenzes at some point. Like you sometimes get a message like "X will remember this". However i've skipped myself through this game a few times. Taking different choices, yet the overall Outcome is basically the same. BUT this is unlike the stuff above not really a really criticism. The game is still in development, and maybe at some point your actions will have visual concequences. But just so you are aware, unlike in other games were there are live and death decisions, here it is so far largely so you feel engaged sometimes.

So the Girls in the game look actually pretty decend, the majority if not all seem to be "new", im actually not sure about 2 of them, i feel like i saw them in another game already. But the majority was not yet seen, at least by me.
So that is more or less a Plus i guess, that you dont see the girls you've seen in 10 others games already. And would those girls be in a somewhat decend Story, this would probably be a good game.

But at this point in Time, i have to give it 2 Stars, the Forum calls that "Poor" which is what i feel like the execution of this game is. And the only reason why i gets 2 Stars instead of 1 is that the Girls are good, and there is no unnecesserary grind, in fact there is none at all.

The TL: DR given that this game is out for over a Year, it does not deserve the current Rating, which is almost 4 Stars. Im sure some gave it a High rating because the Girls were new, graphics are good, and as always then people say "WOW A LOT OF POTENTIAL WOOP WOOP 4 STARS".
However the Truth is, that after a year and 11 Episodes, you can no longer say it has Potential. The Story is trash, and the whole games execution is poor, so any rating above 2 Stars is overrated.

Obviously take all of this with a grain of Salt, this is my Personal Opinion about this game, and as we all know those may vary. But dont expect a hiden gem here.

The game contains choices that should lead to branching paths, but instead the game continues as if you chose a different option from the one you wanted. It's not a bug either, as it's intended by the developer. There's an in-game message and everything. So it's not really a game anymore as you are forced onto one path.

This is a huge issue because the one path in the game that is implemented is the one where the main character makes the worst choices he possibly could. So the character is as unlikeable as possible, the story is as stupid as possible, which makes the game as awful as possible. Not that it was in any great shape before this nonsense started. The previous episodes had been very questionable, but now it's straight garbage and will almost certainly be abandoned.

Don't bother playing it.

I don't like this game. When I first started to play the game around chapter 5, I did find the game worth coming back to every other episode, but I have found the game has lost its luster for me.

The characters have become annoying, and I find the story appears to have no direction. Too many WTF moments where things make no sense. The choices in the game seem to matter less and less as the game progresses where every option seems to end in the exact same place. The illusion of choice is easier to develop for but as soon as I realised I had no agency in the story I lost interest. Some games can tell a story on rails and it doesn't feel like it is a problem but for this game it just doesn't work, for me at the very least.

The stills are decent but in 2019 having decent renders isn't a huge plus in the pro column anymore as far too many games have good models and quality stills. It is almost a bare minimum. The animations are showing their age, so many games now have high quality aminations that the lack there of in a game is glaring in 2019.

The game doesn't have pointless grinds or waste wastelands of locations with no content, and isn't devoid of content. The developer is clearly working on it. So it isn't a bad game with questionable mechanics designed to hide a lack of content. So I rated it 3 stars as it is average vs bad. There is something to enjoy here but for myself I just got bored of the story and the plot direction and the feeling of having no choices in how to respond to situations.

Ok, so I'm all for characters not acting completely normal in a porn game. But what would you do if you were almost raped by some crazy backwoods fuckers, you found a van full of body parts, and you found your friends shoes and his bloody gun out in the woods? Would you crack jokes and let the girls you are supposed to be protecting run off? No of course not, that is the biggest problem with this game. Pussy is strong, but in a situation like this commonsense is stronger.

H scenes are good though.

Fun game, and by that I mean; much better than I expected from the pictures. By the time I got to play this I had forgotten about the spoiler in the overview so I was mildly surprised. The story is quite good; it got to be a little bit scary and even somewhat uncomfortable. The only thing I didn't like is that I feel we don't have enough say about the MC's thoughts; specially regarding Genna and Clara. Minor annoyances notwithstanding, this is something to look forward to (when the story advances). I'd also like more branches and I'm confused about how I activated the camera on the (?) 3rd day after it wasn't on before.

Story's surprisingly good. I mean, IDK why Ape absolutely refuses to talk about how he got kidnapped and nearly raped, shots being fired and Lucy not trustworthy at all etc., but so far everything has been very intriguing. And I actually feel sorry for G. There are plenty of fun moments, but the fact that the story doesn't falls off like a brick makes this game stand out in a good way. Well done.

Infuriating. The MC doesn't react to the dangerous situation everyone is in (not referring to the storm) like any remotely sane person would, instead acting like nothing is really wrong. The writing quality is not bad, although the linearity of the story is kind of silly given that the game acts like it's giving you multiple choices. If you don't mind suddenly being thrust into situations that you have no control over, you may not find as much fault with the game as I do.

The story seems good enough and some pretty funny scenes. Idiot girls mixed with horny guys is the typical plot, but we also have the rapey-rape rednecks thrown into the mix and cockblocking fatty. This makes for a story that puts a smile on my face and some giggles

Graphics are nice, chicks are hot. Not the fat one though.. didnt even want to say "yes" to her even though I wouldnt be using my own dick.. that's pretty believable graphics!

Pros: Somewhat original concept

Cons: Story is weak and much contrived. What could have been an interesting take on a group of people thrown together due to circumstances outside their control seems to quickly descend into the absurd (if Anton can get up to them in apparently no time, they would be able to get to a real shelter back in civilization). Average looking renders, some interesting characters, but many clichéd ones as well.

Verdict: 2/5.

Interesting concept and main hero motivation. What sets it apart is that the decisions are not simply dumb and lewd and aim for getting girls naked every time; rather you build a relationship. If i can put it this way, the dialogues, although obviously exaggerated, feel more "real-life".

I'm giving this five stars, despite few niggles. I am not enthused about the graphics, but that's true for all the 3D renpy games, more or less. But it works and is by no means the worst. At least it has a decent variety of scenes and models. I also despise the main character name. By god, someone let me change it.

That said, pacing is good, the premise is excellent and the choices seem meaningful but still in character. I just hope it's not going to have NTR as a significant part of the content.

That said, nothing at all hints at this being the direction. The premise could just lend itself to that very easily.

This is a new review, the original one I edited out as the game completely fell apart before it was abandoned.

At some point, the money the dev earned seemed to have been deemed as to little.
From that moment, the game abandoned its greatest strengths, that you could really change the story with your decisions and that there were routes with significant differences in how you treat girls and how the story develops.

We got 2-3 updates where the exact same things happened, no matter your previous decisions, including how characters act towards the MC, again, no matter how you treated them before; and then the game was abandoned.

I wouldn't try it if I were you, it starts out fine, but will definitely be a huge disappointment.

A visual novel that doesn't use the same overused tropes and storylines? I'm not a horny kid (who is somehow over 18 even though I look 14) that wants to fuck his mother, snarky older sister, and innocent younger sister?

That right there is enough to sign me up.

While the renders may not be the best of any visual novel I've seen, they're certainly not bad, and probably the only reason I give this game a 4 star rating and not a 5.

There's a good amount of choices and while the game's a bit too early to tell how that's all going to play out you do feel like there's weight to those choices.

Finally, props for adding some less than perfect super model looking characters. One of the characters is heavyset, another has a very 'natural' look and even less than perfect breasts. While still being attractive and very sexy, these little changes from the often over-used perfect barbie doll renders that we see actually come across as a very refreshing change.

I think this story is great so far, and look forwards to checking it out again a few months down the road when the content has expanded.
