I tried searching and can't find the answer, how do you rename a game in the list? Jerez's Arena 2 and 3 aren't pulling the numbers from the thread so they just show up as Jerezs Arena? and Jerezs Arena ?



Can I rename these somehow? I looked through the entry details and stuff and can't find a way to do it, but I didn't try converting the entry to a custom entry.

you can only change the name for custom games, ones synced with f95 keep the name from f95. it does have the number there, but its using a weird character instead of the actual numbers 2 and 3, and this character is not included in the font f95checker uses. due to limitations in the version of imgui the python build uses, thats just how it is. the c rewrite will use a newer imgui version that will allow loading glyphs dynamically as needed, so it will allow using system fonts as fallback to show glyphs not included in f95checker's font such as chinese, japanese, korean characters, and these goofy symbols.

it just uses the search from the latest updates page on f95, which has its issues. you can see for yourself that searching for it in latest updates shows no results, even though the game is there in the feed since it was updated yesterday.

Explain that, my Friend... (maybe I'm just too stupid to use the search functions properly)

The point is not to enter too much

not so much about not entering too much, but rather specific word combinations/positions can trip it up. probably some bug in

not manually, only by chechinkg the installed checkbox which sets it to the latest version. it is planned to be able to manually set the installed and played versions in the C rewrite (which is still very far from being usable)

OK, is this "just me"? I've installed 11.1 beta 1647.

But on startup it is not refreshing, though I definitely have it set to do so.


It does refresh if I click the "Refresh" box in upper right.

In the checker if I type "Hard to Find" in the bottom bar, status is "No results!".
Knowing it uses the Latest Updates search, if I go there, open the filter sidebar and again type "Hard to Find" in the Search box directly, it does indeed not get found.

However, if I just enter "Hard Find" in the bottom bar, the game does get found. Same if I do this in the (Filters sidebar) Search box of the Latest Updates page(obviously, since it the checker uses that search).

Now, If you type the same query ("Hard to Find") in the forum search, mark "Search titles only", it DOES get found.
Also, if I go to the home page and type it in the Quick Search above "Announcements", it gets found too.

So, the 'problem' is with the Latest Updates page's "Filters" search.

EDIT: As has become clear from testing. "Latest Updates > Filters" search does not like words of 1 or 2 characters.

So I figured I would try to test the Search feature in F95 for the very first time and regret it. I got rate limited the very first time I try to search. I don't know what it is doing but it is not good that is causing a rate limited for using that feature.

the point is that latest updates is technically untied from the forum. the latest updates is effectively a thin wrapper around a redis cache, (i presume that) when uploaders change stuff on the forum it gets cached in f95zone's latest updates redis, and when you use latest updates you hit that redis cache. thus, searching in latest updates does not use forum search, it uses redisearch. this is all because the forum is actually very computationally heavy on their servers, so something repetitively intensive like seeing the latest games and filtering them is instead done with redis separately which is designed for these types of workloads and can do them incredibly more efficiently. and redisearch seems ot have its issues and doesnt like some specific words and symbols. the checker already does what to my knowledge (and from my reverse engineering testing) is the most possible to avoid common issues with the latest updates search, you can see for yourself here

I even tried searching just by using the word 'hard' in the checker and it still did not show 'Hard To Find'. Odd. It is kind of funny that 'Hard To Find' is being hard to find.

this is not what i was referring to. i asked about:

the checker uses the last one, which as i explained just a few minutes ago works substantially different from quicksearch and forum search, which are both tied to the forum directly. and this is why both the latest updates page, and the checker, sometimes dont find things.
