I'm continually astonished Steam allows this sort of thing lol.
Steam allows pretty much anything the banks don't throw a hissy fit over, unless it's a straight-up scam or literally illegal. AI generated slop, generic ten-minute asset flip, random shit some dude threw together to learn a new engine, you name it. They're more than willing to host damn-near anything on their platform since it all makes them money.

I swear, the only reason they care about the more questionable categories of porn (primarily beast, preg, guro, scat) is literally just because the banks are the ones in charge of the money, and they've repeatedly strong-armed platforms that feature said content into removing it. From my understanding, Steam is usually fairly chill when it comes to content moderation when it isn't being forced on them via laws or extortion.

I'm honestly baffled the banks care about those things. You're telling me they have some sense of morality? Buuuullshit. Like, a blanket porn ban makes a twisted kind of sense due to the sheer number of chargebacks, but unless they're all being run by 16th century puritans the specific objections are just weird to me.

Right? The only possible explanation I can think of is that the people at the top don't like it, so instead of just avoiding content they don't enjoy, they take a "if I don't like it, then no one is allowed to have it" stance. Unfortunately, being the ones in charge of all the money, they actually have the power to back that stance up.

I may genuinely hate some of those particular kinks myself, but other people being into it doesn't do me any harm. I cannot understand people who feel the need to prevent others from doing things that cause absolutely no harm to themselves or others. If you don't like something, don't interact with it. Simple as that.

Steam isn't Steam anymore since they allowed porn. They'd gone from having good quality games to allowing shovelware.
Correlation, not causation. Steam loosened their terms for what could and couldn't get platformed ages ago, and when they did the floodgates were open. Porn, shovelware, non-game software, they've had absolute fuckloads of absolute garbage on there for ages, and allowing porn wasn't the cause. Allowing porn wasn't what caused the influx of random shit, it was an effect of the changing of their rules for what games were allowed on their platform, which also allowed all the other shit as well.
