But why .png ? I guess in 2024 everyone use WebP. It's 10 times less size pictures with same quality. Game for 10 min have already 1.2 Gb space.

Giftedxace I can help you if you want. I wrote myself a script to auto convert .png to .webp in massive batches quickly, man it helps a lot.

Good luck on your game too! Be mindful of saving up space as it helps a lot with new people trying it out.

Progress Update: I'm around 70ish percent done with the chapter. I am moving to another country now, so much time spent on moving and paperwork. Progress is slowed, but please wait for next update where I should fall back into a normal routine. No worries !

It's kinda old so someone is maintaining a newer version on Linux that works better (apparently).


I'm sure i've also seen one of the game compressors talk about another tool they also use... ah yess, this one:

Yeah its basically done. Got big burnout with country move but game is preserved fine. Next update around 9/15. After that will be more frequent updates as I am all set up.

10 times ??? Not really, is about 26% more efficient than PNG. But at the end of the day WebP is a web optimized format, and still not able to match quality of a PNG on full screen images. WHen you make a website you'll use WepB if you care about your SEO performances, and Google search finding your website.

Personnally on 4K displays WebP games feels like blurry shit... And on 1440p displays PNG still much sharper than WebP.
