Sometimes he came back after 6 month of silence. So i would not fullly dismiss this yet. He that with his previous game too.

Sure, a dev or 2 has left the forum and one has stopped development because of a FEW toxic members. A few out of several hundred thousand? Means that the dev has thin skin to be honest.
Hopefully this is not off-topic...
I agree, especially when most devs get more praising comments, than the angry ones. I once critiqued a game (I think it was Teacher's Pets? dunno precisely) for having creepy looking characters with bulging eyes, but in the same post I wrote at length how I liked the writing. The author replied to me, and he only replied to the criticism, how I am wrong and that those are just default models from DAZ3D site and when I told him, trying to be neutral, that I haven't seen models like this on the site, but I might be mistaken, he told me, that I am a "passive aggressive asshole" and I should "go fuck myself", instead of sending me a link to the models to prove me wrong. And my criticism was one of a few. Overwhelming majority of comments there were positive. I don't know if it's off topic or not, but I used it as a demonstration, that if you focus only on the negative parts of comments too much, you will get angry for no real reason. I wonder if the thin skinned dev was this one or someone else.

And also since Pandelo, author of My Sweet Neighbours, disappeared, you can see on the MSN thread everyday, for months already, plenty of comments saying the same exact thing "family is the most important, take as much time you need, all the whiners should just focus on playing other games", but there are just a handful of negative or frustrated comments spread over the months. It's so positive it got ridiculous to the point, where people actually talk about their hardships with family and their loved ones (myself included) on the thread making it the most genuinely emotional porn game thread I have ever seen.

Thats pretty sad, the game was shaping up really nicely, had such promise, sad to see another good Dev fall by the wayside and another possible great game fall also, when there are so many shit games that are ever ongoing, with shit artwork and shit story lines also.

Rant over, sad to see this gone.

Sad to see this game get abandoned, but to be fair to Perv2k16, they only have 98 patrons and unless each one of them is paying $100 a month, they're probably not making much money which is also sad because this game has very high quality renders and an intriguing story and should be making more, but, c'est la vie.

Well to be fair working in this business with its predominantly toxic community can take its toll on your health/well-being. If you have the misfortune to be constantly exposed to human trash akin to 4chan or 8chan then it's kinda understandable that not everyone is capable of enduring this for a prolonged period of time.
Whatever happened to Perv2k16 is really sad this game was shaping up rather nicely. I'll miss it for sure.
There is a whole lot of supposition in your post unless you have first hand knowledge of why Perv2k16 abandoned the game I wouldn't be jumping to any conclusions and throwing around blame.

In any case I was browsing through my watched list and noticed the abandoned tag. It's unfortunate for whatever reason. Game was starting to get interesting.

Shame. I liked this one. While I can understand not continuing if the interest/money isn't there. This one ending where it did was kind of a slap in the face to the ones who did support.

Patreon as a tip jar ... *sigh ... who's more toxic ... user who shit posting & trolling, or Patreon dev who could bailed out anytime they want, cause "its just a tip jar, bro ..." ... man, people really don't have honor & respect anymore. It's work both ways. You want to be respected, then respect the other side first. Respect the user then the user will respect you. But if this "Honor" or "Respect" aren't in your dicktionary, then I have nothing to say.

As Mutt's said. Wait for Perv2k16 statement first, although the game update per 3 months already on the earlier stage already turn me off. Unwatched this game. Good Luck if continue, if not, then goodluck too irl.

My man you expect some random guy sitting at home playing with a modelling software and a render engine to get paid 10.000 dollars per month? Have you lost your marbles? Anyone with a decent PC and a basic renpy/RPGM/Java/html knowledge can do these kind of games, go on Daz and buy some pre-made models and sit all day and play with them, and then render images with static backgrounds.

Last but not least. What do you actually expect in terms of patrons when people wait 4 months+ for one update?

Plenty of devs milk the cow with little to no updates for months/years and then suddenly "abandon" their game. This is probably the 30'th game that's now cancelled from my personal list alone. You can't expect to get paid when you don't put out regular content. And another thing is.. If you DO get paid 10 grand and above per month (like some devs do) then it's more than a job! It's more than most of us make after hard working months! There comes a time when the dev must take responsibility to keep the content on tracks and don't come up with excuses. Every one of us have issues in real life. But in a real job people would be sacked/fired after a few weeks on inactivity for FAR LESS than 10 grand a month!!

That being said, people just won't commit to supporting the dev because their money comes from you know hard work ..and it's going to someone that can't update their game in 4 months (in this case). Like throwing money away.

Now for those that play the game for free it's all even. Content or not they are playing for free. They shouldn't be complaining at all. But for patrons it's a whole different story.

Long story short. For 10 GRAND a month you can buy the most powerful consumer available PC and also hire people to do the model work, renders and story for you and still be left with at least 3000 dollars a month (which is more than most of us make per month!!!) and that's just for the first month because after you buy the PC then it's all smooth sales every coming month afterwards. 5-6000 dollars every month. So don't go spreading stories like that ok?

Yeah, we don't know what happened in his personal life. Nobody does. But for your job (cause that's what being a dev on patreon is) there are no excuses. You can get away with some things, but not months of absence in a row.

Bottom line I think it's a personal thing why he stopped and not money. I just reached 100 patrons after 1 year. Some devs like DocPink pushed that after 3rd episode and some after 2nd like HopesGames but it boils down to one thing.

Making the game for the love of it or not. 90% of devs i feel personally do it cause they love making it at first. Then after a while it does become taxing, still you have to do it for the love. ONce it's just money you'll find it hard to convince yourself every day to make the game.

Saying that, for some devs making a game is their only income and may find it hard to find a real life job for whatever reason. We just dont know.

I truly belive Perv loved making his game, but life got in the way. It's a pity for us all, as we all loved playing his vision...

I pray things inprove in his life for the better if it's a personal thing he's going through.

As for patrons, theirs is a blessing. My patrons support RTP and not only me. It's to me mindboggling that people would support RTP/me for something they can get for free, why i value them so much and push hard to give them a VN they can enjoy regularly. But these are only my opinions on the matter.

Thank you for this post

You explain in a so well way which is the first reason why a Dev have to start to develop e make a story : he must love this work .
Because actually the market it's completely close to amateur Developer and main income for living arrive from some other work. I think that actually there are 5-6 studios that i think have the control than more than 50 % of this market and this is their main work .
So actually if somebody try to make this work ( the Dev ), probably is intended to fail if the main target is the money .
Because after if you spent so many hours to develop e render a game and you don't see a money ( this is in most part of cases ) and alla sacrifices are not worth the efforts made , the game normally will finish abandoned.
But also if the Dev begin with the first step loving to make this work , after like you wrote could arrive other problems , like for example not enough time to make all thinks , Family problems , loosing interest and other and other .

So what i can see actually , is that Market is overrated , too much games and too much Dev with a offer that exceed the market request ; cases of abandoned games or OnHold games or with later update , will be more and more in the future and we can see so many example in these months gs i don't see that think will be better , but absolutely worse ; I see at end that also in this market ( Adult gamin production ) , it will remain just few professional studio , if we want to see final product in a reasonable time frame .
Just my opinion , that understand the difficulties that could have a Dev in this so competitive and strange market ; but from my site ( i'm just a gamer and and sometimes a patron when i think is a duty to finance a good project ) , it's a shame when you loved a game and you cannot see the end

This is abandoned at 3 months, but that other well known one is only OnHold after 1 year? Wondering if that might have an effect on the dev as well, since it's not really fair treatment by this forum...

First, you should know how the abandoned tag works if a dev is not active on patreon for 3 months the tag will be added, if Perv2k16 was still active and keeping his patrons up to date with the game development it wouldn't have been added if he ever comes back which i hope he does since i like the game myself it will be removed once the thread is updated with a new version.
