i believe the answer to this problem is a server and backup to said server that's is what i do for all my work (note this server is a private use one i made my self i do not trust google with my works)

backing up all your files to a home server is good.
but you should then also backup that server to a different site. whether it is a server at a relative's house, or a corporation (encrypt before sending the files. such as with kopia.)
that way if your home catches on fire, you don't lose everything
