Its probably been mentioned before, but someone really should get in touch with the author to let them know their work was appreciated while it lasted.

The most interesting thing about Ancho is that its story and art style are unique. I really wish it could at least be read that it has fans here. Unfortunately, I discovered the game after it was abandoned. I hope it resurfaces one day; if anyone here knows it, please pass it on.

Unfortunately, the chances of Ancho returning are slim to none.

It was definitely peculiar. About the only thing I can think of is that Ancho had a distinctive 2D illustrative style and the most popular games are either rendered 3D or fairly mainstream 2D illustrated.

For sure, the characterizations and story matched up to (if not exceeded) many of the most popular games on this site, with many of those having substantial monetary support.

Disappointing doesn't begin to describe the loss of this unique and entertaining game.
