On Android is especially painfull because you have 2/3 of screen wasted

are you talking about having only one character to choose? you can choose the ones on each side, you need click on the up arrow underneath them to open their menu and you can change them manually there. Unless you mean you'd rather play it in portrait mode and only have one character take up the entire screen, i feel like that would need a very specific mobile edit.
