>make feral game
>spend the next 2+ years adding almost exclusively anthro-on-anthro content
I'm just confused. I'm not angry and I'm not paying for this so I have no right (nor desire) to complain, but I am very curious about this situation.
If it's what the dev wants then patrons aren't getting what they wanted. If it's what patrons want then why did they support a feral game? If they both want it then I'm unsure what to think.
We live in strange times.

Hey there champ, let me elucidate you on some points. While the game is being crowdfunded by a number of generous people who don't use this website, and who I'm grateful for because it means I can do this instead of getting a real job, this is first and foremost a personal project. It's not designed by committee or catering to popular demand, and I rarely do supporter polls. I set out from the beginning to make a game that I wanted to play but couldn't find anywhere else, and with few exceptions everything I add to it serves that goal. I did start with feral partners, and then later added anthro partners (though the first build with anthro partner support was less than 2 years ago so not sure where you're getting your numbers), and over the last year or so have been focusing on in-game animation tooling to support user-made content and streamline the animation process for me as well. This is in service to longer-term goals for the game, which extend beyond "there is a feral and you do sex to it".

Let's think about how a game like this might grow, aside from becoming something other than a furry sex sandbox. Starting with feral/anthro interactions as it did, where do you go from there? Adding more sex positions sure, but there are only so many of those. If you want the world to be any bigger than two characters, will it be populated entirely by ferals aside from the player? This opens up some more possibilities for three-way and other multi-partner interactions, which incidentally are the focus of this next v1.8.4 build. But for more variety in the experience, sooner or later it will need to support either anthro partners or some other body shape, and given that anthro characters already exist (the player) that is the place to start. Also, supporting anthro partners (and later feral players) then opens the door to actual multiplayer support, which is another long-term goal for the project.

As to why people support the game, I imagine some are only interested in the feral content as you're assuming. But most every build adds to or refines the game in ways that affect anthro and feral partners, so it's not as if people are being left out or ignored just because new content is added that doesn't perfectly suit their interests. I don't generally know why most people choose to subscribe or unsubscribe. I just keep doing what I do, and there are enough sufficiently interested people to keep that going, so it suits me fine.

tldr this is not "feral game", this is "my game, which has ferals". Hope this helps.

Before the latest version (1.8.3) came out, the game worked for me, and now it won't start...

Little more info for people who have never heard of the project.

This is a sex sandbox game (adding some kind of story mode eventually) focused on feral/anthro content - specifically you the anthro player interacting with your feral dragon friend. It supports VR and desktop play modes, and ideally all content will be more or less accessible in both modes, aside from somewhat less immersion in the desktop version. I do also plan to add anthro partners, possibly sometime later this year.

Right now the content is a bit thin, as I've mostly been focusing on building the "systems" and core gameplay mechanics. Over the next few months I'm planning on wrapping that up, and updates after that will be more content-focused - a larger environment, more species options, sex positions, toys, etc.

I've been working on this for about a year now as a hobby project, and recently started a SubscribeStar/Patreon for it so I could work on it full time. Supporters get access to the "alpha" builds with the latest content, which come out about every 2-3 weeks. All content is released for free in the "public" builds, typically about 3 months apart.

The version I'm currently working on (0.6) is VR-focused, adding a full-body player avatar with tracking support, along with some new animations and positions for the dragon. You can see more gameplay clips on my Twitter which I guess I'm not allowed to link here because am new, but I trust you to operate a google.

If this is something you're interested in supporting, then I'd much appreciate it! Though I'm aware of the reputation of sites like this towards paid content, so uh... you do you. <3

...How do i install on quest 3?

Honestly, at the risk of sounding like too much of a glazer I know I can safely say that i'm personally already happy with what's done and it's cool you're future proofing it to help people add their own content and not trying to actively block it like other devs do.

As you've mentioned there is only so many positions you can add and it seems like a better use of your time to make the experience user content friendly as that can add a lot of life to a game if it's reasonably easy to add content people want to it and not have to depend on the dev(s) to make it for them. I'm personally a big fan of anthro/feral content but I know it takes time to make stuff and if that means waiting for the game to be easier for modders to access then that's all good with me.

I'm very interested to see how easy it will get to be to add your own characters into the game, (too complicated for me right now but I know that's a skill issue more than anything.) but i'm just pleased that you haven't abandoned this yet like often happens with cool projects, so i'm personally grateful you've managed to keep moving forward on a colossal task like this.

and i wait for more better animation tool editor, to create more of animations inside the game and share with them. Still have a lot of problem with keyframes and how they are changes when you create them. Dragons are cool.
