It is. Just empty promises and no content.
Man that sucks big time, thanks for letting me know.

I am getting so frustrated cos all the big, good VNs are all still getting made and have usually a patch cycle of a year if not more (Eternum, Being a DIK, and such) and whilst I loooove those games, I really wish I could find one of that quality that was already finished so I could actually enjoy a long game with an ending, blegh.

I don't understand this obsession with pressuring artists. Let them work at their own pace and let them work on the things that they want to work on. The only thing you will ever achieve by pushing is to take the fun and excitement away for them. If you feel misled, stop your support, play something else or whatever it is you need to do for your own sanity. But let them do their thing. It's really not complicated.

I mean for me its like I said, I really don't mind waiting for those games since I know they are actively worked on and they take a lot of time and energy to make. Please don't misunderstand, its my own impatience that is mostly the issue! Not blaming the artists at all. Mainly just saying I am sad that those games are out there and there arent any equivalent finished ones I could enjoy in the meantime, at least none I have found so far haha!

Regarding this game though, 2 years is a hefty wait time without any even smaller updates for sure. But I will still keep an eye out and see if it gains traction again cos it does look interesting in principal!

At this point im really curious how incredibly awesome the reworked version has to look like to make all this effort and time worth it.
90% of the players (me included) won't even notice the difference. Like with the hair renders he posted some weeks ago.

Don't get me wrong, it's his game and the dev can do whatever he want. In terms of dev skills I can rate him 8/9 out of 10. As a businessman 0/10.

More like 99% tbh. I think most of us accept that Honey Select/Studio Neo are a little scuffed and are perfectly accepting of the things that happen in it.

Honestly, I think it’s precisely because so few people call them out. Even on paid platforms where criticisms are raised, many still defend them or downvote, which is why these devs feel so untouchable. More and more VN games have gone from the old development cycles that lasted at most six months to at least a year. Isn’t it just because they only have to pretend to be working, while a bunch of simps flock to sympathize and give them money? And if this game gets a new chapter, even after the remake is finished it will conservatively take another year. One chapter takes three to four years. No comment. I find it ridiculous that people spend money, get no return, and still encourage devs who break promises. If every boss were this generous, the world would have collapsed long ago.

No, it isn't. There are plenty of games that take too long to deliver too little, but the rising average dev time is largely caused by the growing quality bubble, typically in terms of renders and animations.

As said the longer dev cycles are generally because of newer quality standards or because branching paths.

Highly agree with these fans making these devs feel untouchable. ALL if these AVNs have heavy criticisms that can be given.

-Serena: with her ep4 haircut coming back, I finally found a way to fix the big ass gap at the back of her hair, that was completely hollow under many angles. (example below) Huge fix, as it almost made me want to either change hair or get someone paid to redo it from scratch. I also pressed a single button to remove 1 makeup and uhh... She looked like a granny. Even a friend told me she looks like her mom without it. I tried to change slightly makeup, not sure if that's enough just yet

-Valentina: similar to Serena, huuuuge hair upgrade. I absolutely love her newer hair I've used in ep2+, but it had some downsides... I managed to gap quite a few holes, spent tons of time cutting secondary hairs and making them fit it. Single update, but helps her a lot in many angles now. Slight jaw change as certain angles made it overly strong.

Imagining the dev spending hours on these sorts of fixes makes me feel bad for him. I respect the perfectionist in him, but there's a ceiling to how good things will look with HS2. So at best, despite all of his hours of work, he will still never make things look better than an 8/10. I guess he can't recognise that an audience will equally deem a range of quality as "good enough" and not think much about any flaws.

Wait so you're telling that the dev has been working on a rework for 2 years and if the update finally releases its not going to have any new content? You're joking right? There's no way...

Graphics aren't the only thing being reworked. I'm not sure how altered some scenes will be though.

Over two years have already passed, and they’re only now starting on the EP4 remake. My conservative guess is that it will take at least another year for it to be completed and released, assuming they’re actually working on it. I think it’s best not to have any expectations for this project anymore.
