artwork-fate-series-fate-stay-night-fate-stay-night-unlimited-blade-works-wallpaper-preview (1).jpg

Overview:
This is a game where the female protagonist is torn between the love of two male servants. There are multiple route choices and I plan to have multiple endings.

Magic has come a long way since the first Grail War. Now, instead of needing relics, the Mages of modern era use SERYPH the biological pairing system that takes a mage's blood and pairs it with their best Servant match using a library of stored relics from around the world.
So what happens when you are summoned out of your self inflicted isolation and forced to defend the very flow of time itself and find yourself face to face with the man you lost ......and the man you never asked for?

Thanks so much! I'm not sure how to fix this or why this happened. I will see what I can come up with as I keep hashing out issues. I do know Explorer hates the game. As far as I can tell Chrome seems to play nice with it but I'm looking into it now.

In looking this is what I came up with.

"If you're running your game from the file system, IE (and Edge, maybe) will give you a lot of trouble. They generally block a lot of stuff and have incredibly tight security when running from the file system. I'd recommend getting another browser to test with. "

I'm at a loss. I'm building it in Windows as my first game not familiar with coding errors let alone sophisticated code. I know it works in Firefox and Chrome. I also have had 24 people successfully download it and 140 people play it on twitch.io with no reported issues. I had one friend say some of the images didn't load, but nothing like this has arisen yet. If you know a way around it, I will gladly put all my effort there. Otherwise, I can just make a note in the games bio that it is only known to work in those two browsers at this time. My husband says this is a great community so I'm sure someone out there has an answer. I'd be sad if it can't be launched just because it doesn't work in certain browsers since it's easy to switch that up. I completely understand if that is the case, however. You guys want mostly functional products with non-integral issues.

Any thoughts are welcome. I'd like to get this resolved and the game posted if possible. If not, I understand completely. Thanks for the help and feedback.

Okay so here's a tip for you since this seems fairly new.

Don't use official copyrighted artwork for a fan project.

Parody laws or not, have some initiative to make a game that isn't just directly copy/pasted art from multiple artists. You can do better than that.

My apologies if you took offense. Since it’s still in development consider them placeholders until I can do better. I will change them out as soon as I can. I appreciate the feedback but there is no reason to be insulting either in your feedback or your tone. There are polite and adult ways to deal with everything. Public insulting and derision doesn’t benefit anyone and it doesn’t make the sender look good either.

Be constructive and polite. Neither ever hurt anyone. Your feedback has been taken into consideration.

Thank you for reaching out.

I’ve seen many devs on here use placeholders before, that could work out. I think as long as you aren’t using straight up licensed art from the game there shouldn’t be an issue. I also don’t know the status of art used. Was it open sourced and public? Was the permission granted? There is a ton of games using open source art and porn on here. I think jumping on a new developer shows the worst in our community and I think very highly of the community here. It can be a wonderfully helpful place to get feedback and knowledge to make better games. I think condescending remarks make us all look bad.
Keep up the good work!

I didn't see anything insulting in their comment. A bit blunt, perhaps, but not insulting. If you find THAT is insulting then I wonder how will you react when the real assholes and trolls who spew vitriol everywhere come out of the woodworks. He does kind of have a point, though. I don't know how Nasu and Takeuchi are regarding their work, especially since they started as indie developers but I know some japanese developers are pretty trigger happy when it comes to parodies of their work.

Insults are a matter of perception. I can feel his content and tone (much like the edge to yours) is unnecessary and that things can be dealt with more politely. I never said I didn’t understand his point, though I try to make a point to utilize only work that isn’t labeled as being signed or attributed to someone and when I do and it is brought to my attention I am always happy to remove it as it doesn’t need to be there or only served a temporary purposes anyway. Like I said before panties got in a bunch and we started beating a dead horse I just needed to get home from work and the images would be dealt with. They would all come down and everyone could go back to trolling others.

I’m not unreasonable. The point is valid and I’m glad you brought it to my attention. You should see a change within the next few hours.

I still am baffled by how unnecessarily blunt people are. Tact apparently remains a dead art and underdeveloped social skill. If you don’t like the game just say it don’t deflect for purist reasons. Those things can be pointed out and fixed amicably.

Though I do understand there may be some people who may directly attack some works, I don't really think It was anyone's intent... So I think that you're being a bit too sensitive about their comments(especially cooldude33), no one is attacking or criticizing your work per se, they're merely saying that you may face some repercussions in the future for using someone else's artwork...

Anyway, those are my 2 cents... Hope you have a lot of luck with your game!

Now this is feedback I can appreciate. Much milder, much more appropriate, much more constructive and intelligent. I realize communication is a skill not everyone has, but I would appreciate more people looking at situations objectively like you have. It absolutely wasn't my intention nor did I have any long term plans to keep the visuals as they were. I never appreciate people coming at me when I have been honest about my level of knowledge and moral compass with imperious attitudes. If you look at the continuous feedback both of these two give it's all negative and deconstructive with no ways to improve or truly constructive methods for how to go about doing the improvements they mention. I stated my opinion in the same way it is given. I greatly appreciate how you introduced yourself in this thread and hope more provide feedback similar to this. I will be the first to admit I know next to nothing about all of this so I would appreciate a certain level of understanding with the mistakes that have been made and will continue to be made. I see no reason for anyone to come in abrasive. That doesn't help anyone. Sensitivity is also objective. If I was truly sensitive I wouldn't have stayed married to an ex-military vet for 10 years who suffers from PTSD after being pinned under his hummer in Mozul as he watched his commanding officer get shot in the head next to him. It does, however, mean I don't take crap from anyone regardless of how small the crap is.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your perspective and objectivity.

I'm not trying to be insulting to you, but I am going to be perfectly blunt.
To avoid any kind of copyright issue from the artwork part, I'd have kept it text only until you could get an artist paid to make new art for your game. If you think that our tones are insulting you, try to look past that to the core message of our posts, it will help a lot. I would like to see more F/GO or just fate-series themed games in general, but I wouldn't want to get interested in one that's going to be a target for a DMCA right at the start.

If you think our "tact", or lack thereof, is unreasonable, then that's still a seperate issue. If someone is going to join your patreon and help fund this, and they have the same tone we are, try not to get up in arms about it. Being blunt is going to help any project along, rather than sugar coat and pretty up our words on the matter. Being yes-men and not speaking as clearly as they can about what concerns them on a project won't promote any kind of constructive criticisms.

I actually prefer blunt. I don’t sugar coat but I also expect useful, well thought out and constructive feedback. If you had come to me with just this, what you said now, with this tone and no other commentary the conversation would have been different. Being matter of fact is entirely different than what was presented at the get go. This is exactly along the lines of what I need from people and find useful.

I appreciate you taking the time to flesh out your thoughts and provide me with insight I can build on. If you feel inclined to continue providing such feedback, I would welcome your thoughts.

I don’t even know why you felt the need to post this. No one needs you to defend them or trash up their feed with useless opinions. This was between me and him and to extend an assumption that my husband was offended, when he wasn’t, or that anyone else was, when that’s a supposition, is unnecessary and casts discord where none needs to be created. Please refrain from non-constructive commentary that isn’t directly relevant to you, involves you, or what is being produced.

Im here for feedback not drama. I didn’t ask for any of the conversations above. They were dropped in my lap and I defended my position. There isn’t anything wrong with me wanting people to provide intelligent, well thought out and constructive feedback in a manner that promotes creativity and spawns healthy discussion.

If you have something useful to say about the game I’d welcome hearing it. Everything else is unwelcome.

Crap game, give up and stop pulling down the reputation of indie game developers everywhere. There. Feedback.

I cordially invite you to stop writing altogether if this is really all you can muster up. You characterization is so distant from the source material that it's practically self-insert. I've honestly read better stories on fanfic, net written by teenagers. If you're considering game development as a source of income, don't. If you're doing this as a hobby, please keep your personal failings to yourself.
