And once again... you haven't said anything constructive regarding why I should like this game... it certainly isn't the mindless fanboy community that thinks we are insane and "mean" in this forum.
No offence intended, but I don't care if you like this game. I'm not writing/developing/marketing it. So why would I?

I really like it. I love the writing: 007 undercover + travel immersion + sexy corruption. Love the polished kisekae graphics and UI too.

Play it (or don't) when it releases. The world will keep on turning. If you enjoy their work then I encourage you to pay for it, as I do as a general principle.

My guy.... If I go to the restaurant and pay for a table and have to wait, fine. But if they close the doors for the night without ever giving me a table I just got scammed. See how that works? Do you see how people might think they've been scammed if it has been over a year without an update but he's still making nearly 5k? The only way your scenario works is if Crush was actually doing something, he has claimed over and over that he works ridiculous hours, I don't believe him anymore, he's a liar and a scammer and I'm telling people not to support him.
Crush is cooking. In the kitchen making something amazing. Should have come out with a tasting menu months ago. But that's what is on offer at this restaurant. Could you do better? Fuck, no. Don't like it? Leave your self-imposed cage. Play any of the many games for free here. Come back, if you wanna.

If you paid and were unaware of the history of development then you have right to mald.

If you didn't pay then you are the bum outside the restaurant ranting about your free meal.

Hey bipbopboop,

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but love and hate are just two sides of the same coin. Everyone cares enough to share their thoughts, whether positive or negative. It’s all about how constructive and civil the comments are.
Sounds agreeable but you opened with an insult calling me a bot. So civility isn't you.

Let me reiterate: Crush is a fantastic writer, but project management and coding are not his strong suits. He should focus on writing the story rather than chasing new features. Remember, Tolkien completed "Lord of the Rings" before it became a movie classic. Similarly, "Disco Elysium" had its final cut only after the initial release.
Yes! Good writer. Bad at project management. Coding seems fine.

Not sure point you're trying to make with the Tolkien movies analogy. The Lord of the Rings, the books, sold c. 150m copies. Tolkien died while working on multiple other works, including an abandoned sequel. Maybe a GRRM analogy would fit better?

Dollars spent shouldn't dictate the right to comment—as long as the feedback is logical and valid, why not? Most of bipbopboop's replies are ad hominem attacks like "hey Elon." If you're not Crush, discuss the real issues: How can FA development be faster? Is it fair to Patreons for updates to be skipped or the project reset? Lobsterman, for example, advised his fans to unsubscribe until he could update.
Strawman debunked: Obviously, you can comment whatever you want. I think if you don't care enough to pay for something then your opinion is devalued because you did not support the artist. Especially if it tips over into trying to defund the artist. Just move on, leave your self-imposed cage.

'Elon, is that you?' was a response to: It's toxic because dumb bots like you pay him to literally do fucking nothing. I'm poking fun at you and him for calling me a bot.

There are better ways to handle downtime. Transparency and accountability isn't about "haters."

It's called adulting.
Yes, game devs should be accountable - if you paid! Not sure about transparency - that's conditional - some game devs offer such insights (for extra pay tiers) most do not.

You lost a claim to 'adulting' when you called me names. I did too for calling people names. But you can't claim the high ground when you're rolling around in the shit. On fire. With no legs. Welcome to the shit.

You know whats a real strawman? Everything you said. It just have 0 value, mindless trash and a complete waste of time reading you.

Your only argument; You didn't pay, you cannot complain.

By this flawless logic i shouldn't complain if i see any Crush fanboy stabbing someone on the street who "hated" his developer and owner of his credit card because.... meh he's not paying me to defend him! If he wanted me to call 911 should have paid me!

Repeat after me; YOU-DON'T-NEED-TO-PAY-FOR-SOMETHING-TO-DENOUNCE-IT'S-BAD-PRAXIS

You know when I said I get weird stalker vibes from you? This is why.

Why the fuck are you talking about people getting stabbed on the street?

This is forum thread discussing a game. Your mind continues to go to dark places, emboldened by the other haters you identify with, but these people are not your friends. Seek professional help.

Bipbop, people call you a bot because you continue to BEHAVE like one.

Let's address this imaginary point system you have: I reckon most don't really care about your name calling, most people here are addressing bad BEHAVIOUR (i.e. Crush and his reasons, SANS any real releases). That's the LOTR reference, or GRRM if you prefer. Without finishing book 1, it's all BS.

And that's the point, you as a human (if you're not a bot), keep completely being obtuse about. What's your suggestion for better accountability and transparency? What have you brought the conversation, other than "you didn't pay, therefore cannot comment" ad nauseum? My 2 cents has always been to nudge Crush to finish his book 1, stop dicking around. At least we both seem to agree he's only really good at writing.

So here's my final attempt to bring this thread back to the GAME: Nobody needs to be a victim (or Patreon) to make an observation. Since you like analogies, here's one: imagine seeing a person with a bloody knife, walking towards another whose back is turned. You aren't the victim, so by your logic, you should keep very quiet till the stabbing starts. How about release the world from their "gilded cage" of having opinions about Luigi, unless they provide proof they are insured by UnitedHealthcare?

No bloody knife, you'll probably say: game's been in "development" since 2017 and yet its gone from 3 updates in 2023, to 1 in 2024. All while he's not bothered to pause billing. It's like a ponzi; the first few get paid a bit, then comes the rug pull. Can people make this observation based on behavioural patterns NOW, or will you be back here after "abandoned" tag is added to setup victims support group? If the answer is neither, then you're less helpful than his detractors, at least those making valid points.

If he updated on time, had more content to show vs time in development, or paused billing when the promised release failed to land, I'm sure you'll find the general tone of this thread would change. Go back and reread that sentence, that's 3 actionable suggestions Crush could take to avoid criticism. Over to you sir.

Deflection is the art of being wrong but trying to be fun about it so it dosn't hurt your ego.

If you deflect that much on a forum then it's not me who needs professional help.

Really? Another brain dead take... My point is that Crush is not "cooking." Prove to me otherwise then maybe I'd concede my point. Good luck with that.

Scammers are good at milking money from the soft brained, keep giving away your money to him if you want.

The funniest thing is that he isn't paying his patreon xd He is a "freeloader" like all who's complaining.

Said by himself he will gladly pay him when the update comes.

So kinda.... never.

Hey guys! xg told me (forcefully ) in a call that I have to put out a dev report every week, even if I feel like waiting another day or two would make the report better.

He is, of course, absolutely right, so here goes:

I created a new design based on that feedback, which was better received. I'm grateful for the feedback which I think will make the new lifepath a little bit chunkier than I was intending at the time of my last report.

Testing & feedback
This week I pushed out my new Lifepath build to the testers. The feedback I got was that I'd cut too much, and some things I wanted to cut needed to be reinserted.

New NPCs
The improved story planning requires more bargirls for club and hangout scenes. XG and I worked on two new farang bargirl NPCs this week, who are both great additions to the wolfpack.

Artwork planning
I did some artwork planning with our illustrator lovely Queen Victoria .

Scene edit
Part of my new Lifepath build included a new story scene (based on a placeholder scene from 1.6). This got good feedback from testers, who said it was fine; honestly, it's up to my usual standard.

But I am fucking sick of my usual standard, so since Thursday I've been going through it with an editing pass, adding extra dialogue choices, skill checks and decision branches.

I feel like I've made it much better. It feels less like a slideshow, more like a game, with more opportunities to characterise the heroine and improved responsiveness and replayability. This draft scene is more like what I want Female Agent to be.

It's 90% done and will be finished tomorrow, when I'll push it out for testing and feedback.

This is the kind of information I'd normally think was worth delaying the report to get, but I was serious about trying to communicate better. I'll let you know if it's the big improvement I hope it is in the next report.

This is SO much better. It's not just that he appears to actually be making progress, but that he's telling people about the process. It's showing that he's actually working, not just blowing himself the whole time. It's not as good as a real game update, but I daresay that if he had been communicating like this the whole time there would have been much less unrest and derision.

Wow! Two whole patreon posts in 8 days! I'm legit worried that if Crush tries to stick to this pace he might get burned out or frazzled. There are only so many hours in a day after all.

Great to know that he is now adding material back to the lifepath that was previously cut 2 or 3 times. As long as he keeps finetuning his lifepath copypasta skills I'm sure he'll eventually find the right mix that gets our heroine just that much closer to dismantling international terrorist networks in the Bangkok sex underground. And all this made possible by Crush's truly impressive organizational and planning skills...

PS: Approximately 15 months elapsed since the release of the last official FA update.

I think what happens with a lot of these games is that the creators have a premise and a general direction but no conclusion or idea of how to get there. They can produce content that fits the premise but doesn't move the plot and eventually stall out because the work was never really moving. So advice to any would be creators is you need to start by making an outline. State your premise, pick a couple of endstates at most, and write short 1-2 paragraph summaries of all the steps along the way. It also helps if your branches loop back toward the main plot so you can do variations on a scene rather than whole different scenes. Limit your customization options at the beginning because either you will create too much work for yourself or the choices will be meaningless.

People really forget quickly huh. Go back to the beginning of 2023. He used to post weekly updates, because, after the last (Second to last now I suppose) reboot, one of the "I'll do better" things he promised was weekly updates.

So now he's doing the same tactic again, he removes what he promised, and gives it back so you're thankful that you have this "new" thing.

I've forgotten nothing. I still wouldn't give this project a penny and I still believe that Crush is a scamming scammer who scams people. All I said was that frequent, open communication leads to less frustration than no communication. When he's not communicating, there is no reason to think he's doing anything, but if he says he's putting stuff out to testers -- who are also on the Discord channel and who do not contradict that -- then it does show he's at least doing something, even if it's ineffectual and often counterproductive. I've been saying all along that honest, open communication will decrease the anger that people feel -- and I stand by that -- but I still think the project is a giant hoax.

Some screenshots of the work in Twine, or whatever editor he uses, is really needed to restore trust at this point I think.

I think trust would require a a regular and ongoing schedule of quality releases that actually advance the plot instead of just dick around. And for the record, I do not believe that will ever happen. I think what will happen is that he'll put this "pending" update out sometime around the middle of summer and then the communication will become less and less frequent and eventually cease altogether for six months or more. The rage will build up again. The man simply can't deliver what he promises.
