Monday transparency report

Hey guys! I’m really sorry but I need more time to finish my writing task
I worked on it full time every day since the last report, no days off. I desperately wanted to get it finished, but some things I was trying just didn’t work, so I need a few more days to cook.
I’m sorry I know I’m really slow. I was struggling with some characterisation issues that slowed me down – specifically around Max (the optional love interest in Malaysia), the heroine’s attraction to him, and just the general way he behaves, talks and acts (and, ultimately, fucks). This is related to two of my least favourite things about Female Agent:
  • Male NPCs (like Max, Connor, Kriangsak, Kolya, Big Mac) all feel kind of samey and interchangeable
  • The heroine is always just really passive and kind of a doormat
Even though I was trying not to, I felt like I was slipping back into this with Max. But on Saturday afternoon, after a lot of what felt like banging my stupid head against the same wall over and over, I had kind of a breakthrough in both these two areas, and the writing is now flowing much, much better.
It’s nearly 9PM, so I’m going to get an early night and get straight back on it tomorrow morning. Apologies again for taking more time on this than intended, I am doing my best but sometimes I have to put in extra hours to make things work. ❤‍

LOL.

June 17th - 5 scenes left needing editing.

Then, because of the art, just the quickstart version was going to get done.

Then, just a week or two and he'd give a release date.

Now it's been three weeks and no release date, no quickstart version, he still apparently has writing to do...

I honestly don't have any idea what he's doing. I'm doing Blue Swallow in my *free time*. I have a full-time job and life. I can crank out a release in 3-4 weeks on average, faster when I'm inspired.

All good, thanks for letting us know (y), but you forgot to upload the lingerie model image.

That's the most important thing in the Monday transparency reports :Kappa::coffee:!

This dude is just the piratesoftware of html porn games.

>Both released their games in 2018

>Both games aren't even close to being done and most likely never will be

>Both seem to be up their own ass (first second generation blizzard employee vs multiple comparisons to actual notable writers/artists)

>Both claim the writing is the slowest part even though they supposedly spend hours per day on it so people should be understanding (just don't pay attention to multiple content creators in the same mediums consistently putting out updates)

>Both constantly claim they're super hard at work while raking in money doing nothing

>Both have a dedicated group of ball washers that will defend them to the death while missing the point (If yOu dOnT LiKe iT YoU ShOuLd lEaVe)

>Both games' most notable aspect is the art (personally I think Crush's writing is overrated)

>Both have represented themselves as an animal (ferret vs crab)

>Both give arbitrary metrics to provide the illusion of progress (rando ass spreadsheet vs a graphic with text that wasn't even centered)

>Both can't code for shit (the fuck's a for loop vs an avatar that is still bugged out)

>Both don't know how to listen to anyone but themselves (I am literally never wrong vs let's spend almost 2 years to implement the lifepath instead of advancing the story in any way)

Yes, this is deeply autistic but you can't deny the similarities. I'll give pirate some credit though, he at least shit's out minuscule updates to try and save face. Crush remains constipated. The only value left for both these "creators" is the entertainment in seeing how long they can string along their fans and what excuses they can come up with.

I love the fact that everything he does now is for the quick start version, not the complete life path version. Which I guess is just a slightly more polished game start compared with the current one. Wasting time on the Malaysia part of the game, which was fine before, is just the cherry on the top. Who cares about Max, that mission is more of a tutorial section of the game, he is not important in the main story.

Male NPCs (like Max, Connor, Kriangsak, Kolya, Big Mac) all feel kind of samey and interchangeable
Sound like poor Crush has to rewrite the entire story, again. So sad

There's actually a really big, and really important difference.

PirateSoftware constantly replies to criticism. Whether it's just obvious trolling ("you're done buddy enjoy your ban") or actual criticism ("No I'm doing it this way because I really know what I'm doing and you don't. I'm right and you're not")

Crush always ignores criticism. He never addresses any patreon comments, and ignores the vast majority of discord comments as well. His "transparency" is "this is the part that I want to expose, don't ask about what's behind the veil"

Today, in Discord, in response to someone saying - "hey piecemeal release it. you've been saying you're working constantly, no other job, for months upon months with no breaks. it can't be *that* hard to have written a single scene that could be released."

Crush said - "Or maybe, it is that hard"

It's not dude, it's really, really not. It wasn't for you back in 2017, or 2018, or 2019, or 2020...even until 2023, you were still able to write and release scenes with some semblance of a cadence. New material, even if it was just revamped and improved versions of old content.

1) Cassie is not the one who talked about devs responding/not responding to criticism.

2) Where is Blue Swallow 10 pages long? There are a lot of games I can't stand to play because they dump too much text on you (especially early on for world building), but this isn't one of them.

I mean no dev responds well to criticism, look at you, you think your writing is perfect and is meant to be 10 pages long and you want to cater to your audience who enjoys 10 page novella reads in their games. I was telling you to shorten it, you gave no hint of acknowledging anything and wrote me off as a 'troll' probably especially because i'm not a paying customer anyway. No sign of compromise, or even just admitting in any way shape or form any hint of agreement with any point I made. The end of the day devs make games for themselves, it's not a service job, it's not for us. So the devs don't need to listen and don't want to listen. It's more comfortable to do what they know, than try to adjust and grow.
Some points:

1. When you are PAID thousands of Euros, dollars or whatever currency it stops to be a game for "oneselves" and become a service like any other "indy" game.

2. We don't ask for a 10 pages long "Novella" for the update. We demand simply what he promised for the last 20 months. I will repeat the number; 20 damn months working "non stop" and still not a single "novella" page.

3. Anyone can have some kind of mental block or needs a break for some "inspiration", but i repeat 1 year and a half promising something WHILE BEING HANDSOMELY PAID TO DO SO and still 0, nothing, nada, none. If you CAN'T o you don't know what or how to write don't profit from scamming, put your patreon on pause.

People like Crush is what makes lot's of damage to whom really wanna do a decent job, not only for these type of games but for the indy industry in general.

No, wrong.

When you publish and monetize that work, such as via Patreon, you can no longer claim that you made that work just for yourself. It becomes a commercial work where you are soliciting money from a paying audience and you now have a responsibility towards that audience. If you want to be subsidized during the creative process then you have to accept a certain level of accountability. That includes feedback & criticism.

Even people on welfare or the dole have to give updates on what they are doing. You want to make a game just for yourself? You want total freedom? Then don't open a Patreon page.

Like with any other developer, if Crush can't produce or advance his "game", people should stop giving him free money. Because the reality is that Female Agent development is very much a service job and Crush has not been providing that service for a very long time.

It's an age-old argument: what does the creator owe to the audience? Many very successful creators say, "Not a damned thing. This is what I made, take it or leave it." Many equally successful creators say that the whims of the audience must be catered to. It's something that every creator has to judge for themselves and decide how much to compromise their visions. Equally great stuff has been made going both directions.

In this case, though, what Crush wants is to produce literally nothing and get paid for it. That's a very different thing from a creator giving you something fantastic that doesn't exactly meet audience preferences.

I haven't stayed because of how the story is written, there are many better ones, but because of Victoria's drawings AND I don't know why but I like the idea of sometimes rolling a die at random :HideThePain:.

For example, the protagonist gets out of a car and, due to an unlucky roll, the wind blows up her skirt.

Man I can't believe I actually had hope for this game a few years back after Crush finally started releasing more Bangkok content instead of trying to make a shitty lifepath nobody cares about for multiple years.

And now, he's back spending nearly two years (and counting!) trying to make yet another lifepath nobody is asking for.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Yipee!!!

In this case, though, what Crush wants is to produce literally nothing and get paid for it.
That's the problem. I can get a product, I may not like it, but I get it. Let's take the books that were used to film Game of Thrones as an example. The last books haven't come out yet, but I haven't bought them, I haven't paid for them, so I may be unhappy with the speed of production of these books, but the author has the right to produce as many as he wants. When you get thousands of dollars on Patreon, the situation is a little different. I don't mind "take it". The problem is that there's nothing to take.
The second problem is that they are trying to sell me an already written book for the second time.

Your second sentence completely reflects the reality of what is happening.
