Patreon supporters leaking buggy beta builds to F95 will never fail to amuse me: it's as if they're deliberately trying to make the game that they're monetarily supporting look bad to new users that just want to try it out. Doesn't seem like a winning strategy to me to me, but this is hardly the first game here on F95 where it happens, and it won't be the last. I've always wondered why such users don't just post them in the thread and be like "hi mods, please don't update the main post with this or I'll stop posting them (or at most just make it a secondary download but keep the current stable build as the main download), but here's a beta build for people who want to try it out". I think that'd be much more workable.

Game devs can't understand a simple thing - piracy doesn't harm games, it promotes them. If it wasn't for this site, no one would have heard about this game. Well, yes, they leaked the beta, but on the other hand, more people learned about the game. If you look at their patreon profile, there are more profits. Even leaks like this are the best advertising campaign. More people find out about the game - more people will subscribe to you. That's exactly how it works.
The best defense against piracy is to release a game that nobody wants or cares about. Stop sulking and let's make and promote the game together.

Because of Patreon we have to be careful with it. There are other ways to show hard non-con scenes without being full rape. Remember that FO is set in an medieval fantasy world, with all that implies. We have prepared some situations for the nexts versions that might surprise you

hell, Roka is a slaver and sex-slavery is supposedly rampant...that's a position that fundamentally has no "consent". your a pleasure bitch free to use at any moment. if we eventually end up going through the whole game along the sex slave route without getting raped once because "oh no the patreon censors" the game will be worse off because of that.

not that there needs to be some brutal rape scenes behind every corner or anything, the game is obviously going for a certain level of comedy/trope defying. but i can't help but roll my eyes at some scenes already where it certainly feels like there should be some way to "fail" them and get raped.

one already comes to mind, the hobgoblin who is oddly respectful of your virginity. while it is atleast written funny, i do feel like there should be a subpath available where you actually *do* offend him, and he decides to fuck your face or something instead of just asking for a handjob. if enough situations like that pop up, where it really starts to break suspension of disbelief that all these assholes ans creeps are oddly so respecting of your bodily autonomy, the game will be worse off for it imo.

cause if your game gets popular enough (and i think it will, even now i see a level of quality that 99% of the games on here lack) you will always be at risk of someone reporting you to patreon and getting canceled. the only 100% way to avoid this is to maintain your creative autonomy and get off patreon

I would add: more platforms - more promotion - more subscribers - more autonomy - less chance of blocking.
Vaughn look at how quickly and cleverly “free music" was cut off at Eternum. As soon as the project became recognizable, they came after them right away.
But thanks to this site, we can play with the music that should be according to the author's idea, and not according to the wishes of ubiquitous copyright holders.
You think they won't come after you? Yes, they will. Already knocked out a bunch of projects for “lack of consent”. Now they will run the issue of music copyrights on promoted projects, and then they will start bending everyone.

Piracy isn't the issue here, the problem is that the leaked version was a beta and due to how f95 works that beta became the latest version and instead of having a stable and beta on separate links to download, only the beta is there and is not a good look when the bug mess is posted as the only latest version.

We all know most people dont read, much less understand what a beta is. When GTA6 development videos got leaked there was TONS of glue sniffers saying shit like "Bro look how bad it is, looks like a PS1 game"

Here in F95 there is always the 300 pages of people asking for the same thing because people only read the first and the last page at most.

Besides, this forum is for advanced users - it's not a steam store, so the users here are understanding of what's going on. All this is certainly not worth it to get hysterical and slam the door. it may sound crazy but some people like to play a game that isn't broken?
If a beta breaks the game then it would be better to keep a link to the latest STABLE version.

I mean I'd give the average user a little more credit than that, but I feel you with stable games. I don't think it's a problem replacing a beta with at least a plan for a stable update that way people who want can chill out until there is one. Even then if someone were to play a beta unknowingly and they feel like they'll die without a stable game someone will prolly say something in the comments. At least in this forum anyway

is the slave path incomplete? cant find strom to get clothes. every place turns me away for being a hussie until I go far enough west that I run into guards who just insta kill me and end the game for some reason

slave content ends at the beach, left intentionally vague to avoid spoilers. You'll get the boilerplate telling you to support development when you reach the end of any of the branches

Can I get a vibe summary of what I'm in for depending on what routes I take? Like is the experience significantly different if I go in as a slave vs joining up with the guards?

degradation along the slave route, like massive, massive degradation, and sadness. The military route is fun, and you can make some friends.

Coming in here is already an accomplishment. So it's not that bad for the average user. There are worse. Let there be two links - to the beta and the latest stable one. Either way, it's advertising and promotion. Increased payments on patreon only confirms it.
