I suggest we surrender. change the relationship from mom/sis to land lady/roommate or other way that can be named by player self.on that way . we can use Patreon .
The appeal of the game is the incest taboo aspect of it. I don't think going to Patreon would be helpful at this point.

His intent didn't match what he wrote in the post. IE so the dev can continue to get member support is to obfuscate the relationships by using land lord/roommate/renter trope and then allow the player to rename the relationships.

Other ways to get around this are to have a patch that updates the base game ("game experience may change"), a mysterious third party mod (an unofficial' patch using a sock puppet), hide the content behind an activation code, or some sort of combo of methods. I also think separating the accounts between the announcements, conversations, and downloads will help break the automated nark tools from using keywords /triggers to alert the site admins.

I feel like that would make things complex for the dev and it just feels unnecessary. Someone suggested making a website and I don't think that's a bad idea.

so maybe you should make a website and add different payment systems. And whoever wants to would buy them. Also advertise here about your site here
I'm considering options like this but won't take significant action until after v0.6 is released.

I spent a good chunk of the past week malding and doomerpilled. It just seemed like a lot of dominoes were collapsing at once and it wasn't clear what shoe was going to drop next. SubscribeStar is currently the only place I'm getting any kind of donations and I was contemplating what it would look like if they pulled the plug. If the obstacles to monetizing the game become great enough, I'd rather just make the game 100% for free and avoid the headaches than continually hand out my banking details to new Patreon variants that popup and then get shut down a year later.

it's abandoned :4Head:

Of the options I'm considering, going the landlady/roommate route is not one of them. I've seen some games pop up dialogues where it asks you what the relationship characters and you could type in "mom" and get around it that way. I don't want to go through the work to implement a complicated system only to have the rules change for what's allowed six months later.

Because I'm using a "tip jar" model, I'm thinking of opening up a separate NSFW (but not taboo) page that doesn't mention the game at all, perhaps on Patreon.

I just don’t understand how a couple of cunts managed to make the banking system care about stuff like this. Blame the parents not monitoring their kids.

After I wrote my reply I saw that itch.io is now allowing _free_ adult games to be re-indexed as then they have to worry about any payment processors

Problem there is still the payment processor. For a niche micro business there are few payment processors two of which are Stripe and PayPal both of which have said they wont deal with sexulaized content*. Because of that the payment trail leads down the darker trail of crypto and other grey methodology similar to what I discussed.

*Stripe announced its talking to its banks about this. Could be diversionary BS

A lot of the programmatic solutions on offer are non-trivial and it's not clear implementing some of them would allow the game to pass the relevant bar of acceptable use. Even if it did, will the goalposts move a year from now? I think I prefer the website-based approach.

I sent Itch.IO support this email on Monday. I have not yet received a response.

I am hopeful that Itch.IO will Re-Index the game. I have watched as many of my peers have been re-instated.

From the video I saw they specifically said it had to be listed as _free_ and not $0/choose a price. It sounded like had to be done first but just going by the video

I would say that for now you should just focus on the update. Yes, what is happening right now with the payment processors is concerning but I have faith that things will turn out ok. There are people fighting this stupidity so it is too early to tell which way things go.

I'm still a big fan of this game and wish you all the best!!!

i'm sure having more than 2 updates a year would also bring a lot of eyeballs onto the game. you know, just saying.
People not understanding it's not going to be as easy for these developers anymore to push out updates with all this itch.io and bank drama going on, gotta have some patience and let them cook. ESPECIALLY if you want good quality updates, imagine he/she just give us small updates that don't give you what you want then your gonna complain MORE, I BET you would. pick a struggle
