There are a few things I am not really good at, so I hope one of you smarter guys has a good hint for me. I am looking for a font, that is identical or at least near to what is seen on the photo. I need it for a Godot project I am working on and a free version would be appreciated, but any hint regardless of costs will be appreciated.

P.S. The other font I am using currently looks like this, but the one from the picture would be nicer for some elements.

Almost. Notice how the B has no complete line in the one you suggest? But I appreciate that one already, it is very near to what I am looking for!

I actually didnt know about that font site - really appreciate the link!

See those edges or protrusions? It is again very near but creates a smudgy effect overall - the one in the original picture is so very clean, which is why I think it works well in a game. I have seen the type of letters being used in a variety of neon signs, so they should allow to use several effects in a game as well, without making them unreadable

P.S. The one I looked at last is but that is also just near, as the proportions seem to be off Edit: Plus they are too cramped which makes them less ideal for a game and longer time looking at them

I found out there are websites to detect fonts from images, I didn't manage to get a good result with the image you've provided, but still got some stuff:

There's also this:

Frankfurter, no?

There's also .
Jup - Frankfurter or Corkboard . Corkboard is actually found by both sites which makes them probably the better match. You guys are very helpful!

Using your link it comes up with the Sassoon family which actually looks very crisp and clear as well.

Thank you both a lot for your help - finally getting something that is very near to what I need

Ha - i just read the description for the Sasson font and that should have been the deciding factor to begin with:

Quote ' Designed as a typeface for children's books and teaching materials, it features sans-serif letters with a slight slant, and exit strokes on the baseline. The result of a UK research project into which typefaces children find easiest to read. '

I came up with Frankfurter with my link, but I did the "Fonts by Appearance" questionnaire with the filter set to ADULTSOREBK.

The What the Font page historically has had a better image search unless identifont improved theirs in the last few years.

I saw this one that's pretty darn close to that sign. Only real difference I could see is the middle line on the "E" is even with the upper and lower lines, while the sign in your example has a middle line a bit shorter than the other two. That's easy to edit in Photoshop and the spacing and height can also be tweaked using PS's font tools.

It's called Simply Round and you can download it .

I think that is the same i tried in this post. The E and also the K are made extra fancy while i would prefer a really clean (if boring) style. But thank you nontheless

P.S. Maybe I should have added that to my OP but there is lots of data the user is going to look at. So stuff might need to be listed in a collection or something table-like at times, which makes any fancy font hard to deal with.

Sorry, missed that post above.

But I don't really see what you mean by the E and K being fancy? Other than the difference in the E I already mentioned - to my eyes at least - the K is almost identical to your sample pic. In fact, that's why I picked this font as the K's lower arm is almost exactly the same.

In any case, if this was me... I would run with that simply rounded font. I'd then take your photo and put that in photoshop and add a new layer on top for the type. Make the text layer a little transparent and then you could tweak the character settings (mainly height and width scale) and it should be easy to almost perfectly match the style of the sign.

Now all of this is assuming you are using this font for an image of some sort, to match that photo. But even if it's just for text dialogue, this is still a close fit. Don't get distracted by the "fatness" of the photo. That can easily be added as an outline . Well, you can do that in Ren'py... no idea about Godot.

The 'fancy' part is related to how the intersections are placed. For readability it is usually best if they are symmetric will say the K intersects at the middle , same for the E. You might notice that in different fonts the lower case letters exceed the middle of the height of the capital ones for example. That is what I mean with 'fancy'

But i did a quick test with the rounded now and it looks pleasing enough so far

Well, seeing as how the sample photo you gave us was in all U/C, there was nothing to compare the lower case parts.

But honestly, I disagree with you about the K. Here's a quick and dirty example I just did in PS. Took me like 3 mins. Its Simply Rounded Bold with height and width scaled to 85% and an outline added with the Stroke filter.

Unless your players are going to look at the font thru a microscope, then the K is pretty damn close. In fact, I think the 'O' is the one character with the most differences. But you could easily break them down letter by letter and individually scale them. Especially if you are making menu item PNG's from this font.

This is not about the player comparing anything but readability over a longer time. The example from the photo is very clean in its appearance thus applying any form of extra effect will still keep the font clean. So it works as outline, as filled, as allcaps etc
The K in your example simply looks 'off', as the upper part condenses more into a smaller area than the bottom, while something symmetric does not. But as I said earlier: I had a look at the same font myself and it comes near to the one in the photo. Dont forget - the photo shows neon letters and not not a font printed on top of it, so not finding something that is exact was already in my books. Would just have been nice to find something that is the same as a font

:KEK: If by close you mean every single glyph is different then sure. Well, he's not recreating the logo so it doesn't need to be exact and it is a similar style...

What Font Is is the another site I like.

This is the Frankfurter in the same context as the above example with the rounded (below for comparison)

As it looks right now, I think the Frankfurter looks nicer for the bigger UI elements and I am going to be using rounded for the smaller stuff like lists

Even looks good in allcaps

Thanks again to everyone for helping out with this!
