according to the website the games still being worked on but this is labeled as abandoned. can someone explain that one to me?

I believe the guidelines for a game being marked as abandoned are 6 months with no contact or a year with no updates. Not 100% sure but I believe that's what the conditions are.
Zell is working on a game called shiro no yakata at the moment, then I believe Succubus affection 2 is next, he also has his own horror game he was working on aside from shiro no yakata ... After all that he may come back to FOBS but I've heard some doubts on that... From what I gather the original engine he made FOBS on was very limiting which was why he broke it into 2 parts, so he started remaking it on a new engine, but it was very tedious and he lost interest as other projects took over... So as to whether he'll return to it is a big if really, I hope he does eventually though, as far as h game pixel art goes, I think he's the best there is.

Nah, don't think so. Zell's released a few pictures and gifs of characters that aren't in the demo yet, could be something like that.

I honeslty don't remember anymore exactly, being more than a year last time I played any of the FoBS versions, but it was one of those.
