Regarding the first bit, it's honestly surprising as to how far they have come. There's probably more structure to it than that, but they definitely aren't in touch 24/7 that is for certain. It's not just all or nothing, usually some in-betweeny bits. Even more surprising is the fact they got a relatively consistent schedule (current update not withstanding) and manage to pump out some pretty good quality stuffs.
On the second note - Such a scale is something I didn't know I wanted until I saw it. That is pretty damn accurate and with a bit of self-reflection on preferences and kinks is pretty damn accurate. Some like animal girls, some go further into it and some are just straight up into furry stuff while disregarding the preliminary stages. Some might find that post offensive or harsh, but for people that are jaded, it makes for a pretty good measuring stick, even if I wouldn't go running around in public with that.
Apparently even fetishes work on a measurable scale.
Note by the way that I'm not implying any sort of pipeline or a slippery slope between those fetishes either, my point is only that they're linked. I genuinely have no idea whether jacking off to something for years makes you jaded or not, or if jadedness alone is enough to increase your threshold for that certain concept (I was barely into furries 10 years ago, jacked off to furries a couple hundred times since, and I'm still barely into furries).
Anyways, you could imagine a list of scenarios that have progressively more of the same concept, like
Concept: "Attraction to masculinity, for someone of a male gender"
Percentage of the population who are into this concept: 15%
Code:
How "strong" the concept is % of the population into the fetish
Fetish A 5% 14%
Fetish B 13% 9%
Fetish C 28% 7%
Fetish D 41% 3%
Fetish E 59% 1%
Fetish F 87% 0.2%
An individual who's willing to be 30% into the concept would probably like A, B and C - and the number of individuals who are similarly willing to go up to 30% "gayness" would make up around 7% of society.
Then you've got shit like multiple concepts in the same fetish (e.g. with traps:
1. masculinity
2. the "wrongness" and transgressiveness in crossdressing
3. the domination aspect of forcing boys to dress like girls
4. the specific fetish of bisexuality and a pair of M/F twins both dressing as girls
5. watching that as a girl, or a girl helping someone crossdress out of pity
...all of which are separate and could appeal to different groups), people being into fetishes they have no "business" being into simply because they had a major life event and the perfect storm of circumstances lead them to develop that fetish (they're specifically into Fetish E, but not A/B/C/D or anything even similar), THEN you have to factor in whether some people are "born gay" and reductive shit like that (basically, are they born with a personality that has a predisposition to certain concepts), things like how much you care about society's approval and how "above the rules" you think yourself (I would argue something like bestiality or "actual" pedophilia would require that component of attraction to the highest level, AND a certain "fuck what the world thinks, I'm right" attitude), then whether or not someone higher up on the ladder would still appreciate the soft variants because they have a different draw, then whether being bored and jaded of a certain fetish makes you seek out more hardcore variants of that same concept or just abandon it altogether, and so on.
It's complex stuff.
