My guy, you're very naive if you think some mentally ill undesirable catladies were the main drive behind this - they're merely an excuse, payment processors have been doing this shit for years and will continue to do so until some government tries to reign them in, which they won't for obvious reasons (just look at what UK themselves are doing lmao), so better start archiving now.
It really does not matter who started this on who's behalf. Shit happened several times, community did nothing so after each hit those clowns became bolder. Devs did almost nothing, so each next hit was harder. If they will continue to do nothing, next thing we will know - is their migration to grey jurisdiction which is not good.
Woah, calm down there bud. You're solution is to pull the curtains and hope everyone's not caught in the crossfire. I agree that being proactive is the best possible solution, but as we just saw with itch that wouldn't have helped as all adult content got delisted.
If Patreon is hit by this too they're probably gonna have to do reviews of it's 18+ content (which will be time consuming and expensive), or take it all down and only allow the most obvious safe stuff back. Quickly trying to switch to other platforms is unlikely to help and is a good way to lose subscribers who won't follow you too the new site/discord/whatever.
I don't want this censorship any more than you do, but the only way to change it is to convince the payment processors to stop being such shitters. The only way to do that is likely to get the government to step in and as I'm sure you know, the party in power in the US is currently dealing with a pedo scandal the likes of which we've never seen before.
Creators should be careful, but I don't think any potential coming ban hammer is going to be narrow and used individually...It's going to be wide and indiscriminate.
Curatins? Crossfire? What the actual fuck are you referring to? Are you trying to attribute some shit to me that I didn't say? Or are you just imagining things?
Itch did almost nothing, even their explanation article came out several hours AFTER deleting games. What did they do after patreon first shiteating session? Nothing. After steam got hit? Nothing. It is not being proactive, it is quiet dicksucking. And now after taking a direct hit they are saying they STARTED TO THINK ABOUT IT. Well... Good luck to them. They'll need it.
Patreon was hit already, when he changed hos guidelines. But there is a little secret here - there is NO SAFE CONTENT. For psychos "enough" option never exist. Those clowns started to sue Detroit Become Human game - and there is no porn content there.
As for convincing payment processors, I can't exactly know what way is preferable for you. In EU there is a way with petitions I guess, in GB they are already eating shit with "wanna see porn? Give us your ID!", in US there is bill called Fair Access to Banking Act. But it is long and tedious process. From what I can see, reletively quicker solution for devs - if some platform with the ability to pay with cryptocurrency to depersonalize payments. But is not possible for any single dev to make that and I don't know any platform like that. Maybe there is several and I just don't know about them yet. And again - I am not omniscient being, maybe there is some other viable solutions that already exist.
