You know, actually, I feel like the nice options aren't as sickeningly sweet (read: cheesy ) as some other games. Maybe I need to replay again or something, but it felt to me like the nice options are just normal nice options, which I prefer. I like the really sweet stuff, too, but I think it needs to be earned and used more sparingly, or it just starts to feel too melodramatic and irritating.

Spot on mate. I remember saying once that the romance in this isn't some boring hallmark movie, it's layered and the girls don't just fawn over Guy and say whatever to please him.

It's part of why I like the romance in this.

I agree; in a lot of games the "nice" options are more of "guy tries to compliment a girl and lays it really thick to get in her pants" but here they're often enough just some normal, friendly behavior of a decent person.
