Anyways, I've gotten used to somewhat worse writing on these boards, so, having finished chapter two, it was rather pleasing to not have had a single moment of "uh, what?".
Regarding the face: I didn't even notice with the lighting and tattoo. Are we sure it's a different face? Could be reasoned in someone else doing the art, though.

Honestly, I'm happy so many people are attached to the Nicki of Chapter One. I think it shows a certain level of care and interest in her character, that wouldn't otherwise be there if she was just Digital Fuckgirl #4.
Some aspects of Nicki's new look will be short-lived, others less so. I don't want to get into the details too much, but her change in appearance does have a story purpose, and it's going to propel our intrepid MC towards a new challenge. So far, he's been able to get what he wants through liberal application of money, blackmail, or force. Nicki's dilemma is going to challenge his new status quo.

If a person thinks the tattoos look ugly on her, a story reason isn't going to make them not look ugly to that person. Also, if the reason she got them isn't something nice, they are not only still ugly to that player but now also serve as a constant reminder of the negative circumstances (probably related to her shitty boyfriend) surrounding them. Personally I'm always in favour of the author staying true to their vision of the story rather than just go along with what the audience wants. This is a story that will have many characters, and not all of them are supposed to be cute and nice. It's great to hate a contemptible character, but it is a fact that all stories need characters with flaws. It is almost a requirement for good writing.
While I agree that a dev should do what he wants, he should also be careful about ruining a character for a large portion of his audience base. I mean just from reading the posts I see that alot of people didn't like her to begin with. Now throw in the completely different look. I read that a few more have jumped the Nikki boat. Now you can say it's his vision and he will do what he wants. It's true, he can. Although now he's writing a story arc for a character a large chunk of his audience base won't even read, just skip through. From what I also read he pretty much states that she will keep the tats but that maybe the hair and other stuff will change. I might have read that wrong but that is what I took from his statements. So basically if you don't like the tats your shit out of luck. I would support the dev on his patreon but unfortunately Nikki was my favorite (I'm a sucker for girls like she was at the start) so I'll just move on to another game and so should those that want to complain about the dev. Now maybe I'll come back if I read that she goes back to how she looked at the beginning (meaning no tats) but until then good luck dev.
