Yeah, I agree I have stopped playing a lot of games on here because the mc is just a creepy arsehole with no options for the player to change that.
But I can already tell this game is different.

I think its better if you dont like everyone in a game or piece of entertainment. I mean, I have said it before, Nicki is a well-written polarizing character that has a group that love her, and a group that doesn't. I think her character is just as intended...It is supposed to make you think, if I was the newly rich MC would help her, or use her in ch.1, when she appears again, would you forgive her, or continue to use her, would you tell her fuck off and be a dick...well if she is always just an easy digestible likable character, where is the fun in that? Everyone would just pick her most likely...Neon is writing a story and it caused engagement in both spectrums...I feel nothing needs changing at all IMO.

Irl if in this situation I'd be disappointed as fuck in Nikki, but I wouldn't hate her. Life's hard out there and rarely does someone make it to the finish line the way they'd like, undamaged, or with no regrets... I just try to give people (even in vidya games) the same leeway I'd like. Admittedly it's easier to forgive in a game when the feels aren't directly mine but rather those of a proxy, but irl I've forgiven some pretty big shit. The anger is just not worth hanging on to.
Broken characters are more real, and way more engaging in a story. Everyone has their too much bullshit threshold in a relationship, but in a video game story, even though I'm a self insert player, that threshold is sky high (especially cause I avoid games with my deal breakers.

To be honest context is the most important thing for these stuff. If your gf sending her titty pics behind your back to someone, it is cheating; if she does that for money on OF or somewhere, it is whoring and if she pose naked for some sort of modelling it is not whoring; if she sends titty pics ask about a mole under it, it is not cheating etc.
What Nicki does a little bit in grey area but I think it leans to whoring more IMO, though it is debatable.

Whore = prostitute. OF is not prostitution, generally speaking. Regardless we all sell our bodies and minds to live (any VA hospital is full of examples) and regardless of how that's done, people deserve dignity and not to be denigrated for what they do to survive. Rather than looking upon someone with disgust, in this situation with Nikki or similar (there are plenty, allegedly, of sex workers who enjoy their work and aren't coerced, to whom sympathy wouldn't apply/would be kinda rude), maybe some sympathy for someone getting to a point where they felt that was their only out.

It's funny, I expected Mason to get some blowback due to the fact he's actually engaged in prostitution. But everyone seems generally chill with that, while Nicki gets way more flak for speed-running the OnlyFans --> sugarbaby --> porn pipeline. :'D

Well like I said before, context is the most important aspect of it. Mason did it for surviving, I'd never have a problem with that. It was even sad when Mason remembered the past and had imaginary confrontation with his father. If you speed-run that for saving your no-good bf's ass, no respect from me. For Nicki my only thought was "yeah you deserved it".

Fair enough. But, the patch doesn't need updating with this game, as it doesn't come with any game content, simply a text file that tells the game that you have patch content enabled, which is already included with the base download. Even when the dev splits the game into two versions, I think the "Friends in Need" version will still be what gets uploaded here and patch will still be a simple text file or w/e, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Haha, yeah... I'd guess the main reason is that Mason's character doesn't have history with the MC and is upfront about everything and nothing really needs to be figured out on the part of MC. With Nicki, I think it's two main things: 1) her relationship with MC is more complicated (to me at least) and I always get the feeling she's confused and unsure about a lot of things between them, whereas MC tells us that he has feelings for her; and 2) the order of events in chp. 1, i.e. she gets dressed up which signals interest, spends time with MC, and then asks for money. Because of those two things combined, I imagine it allows the especially paranoid players to project all of their worst expectations onto the character, despite the fact you've said otherwise and have left various things in the game that notify her true intentions.
Some of these dudes are probably the kind who throw around "cuck" willy-nilly and are really, really sensitive to feeling or appearing emasculated, perhaps even are naturally mistrusting of women in relationships, which we can all agree is an unhealthy growing trend these days..
I feel like your revamped chp.1 should fix #2 (order of events) issue some players have since your intended friend relationship will be emphasized more and it will be easier to see that Nicki is being pushed around and manipulated by Brent (wearing the dress, asking for money, etc.).. but if they're the aforementioned kind of guy, who couldn't sympathize with a real woman in the real world if they tried, they're probably going to keep harping on about "whore Nicki using and cucking the player" no matter what you do.

Not sure which you're referring to, but my idea wouldn't be an extra path, just a way to move from one already existing path to another already existing path. Would only be one scene needing rewriting, and most of that could come from the already written good/bad scenes.I kinda like this idea too, maybe it can be combined with original idea of dev. Slight changes in narrative and a few more options can be better. Though, branching in this game is already verge of overwhelming and we will have a few must branching if this change also adds to it I don't think it will be a good idea.
She did have a choice though, she could have come to MC, who she already knew. Mason did not have that option.

After she asked money she could have off the hook but she did not, she even put the money in shared account. Mason got kicked out for something he did not have control over, definitely not the same.
We are referring same thing but if you have option to be good after dark choice; you cannot put MC on good path, you need to have references to bad choices you did. Or vice versa. If MC switch to another path without consequences it will break immersion. So instead of our regular 3 paths (Good, Opportunist and Dark) we need to have 9 paths (Good to good, good to opportunist, good to dark etc.) It may not need new renders but it will text changes according to paths.
