Foremost, thank you for your weighted opinion. Regrettably however, it seems you might have taken my preference for a "balanced relationship", too literally. While I agree with your assessment that MC will almost always have an edge thanks to his extreme financial prowess and doubly so if you support LIs positively, making them heavily indebted to his goodwill but, there is still a valid emotional argument to be made here.

Let's say if someone is in dire need of your aid and offers you sex in that moment, would you interpret the motivation behind it as genuine love? Or simply a desperate attempt to sweeten the deal so they can secure what they need from you? Of-course it could be the former, but in that moment, the situation isn't exactly easy to analyze.

Now the same thing happens, but this time no favors are in the air. Personally, I'd struggle less with this one as the only thing weighing more on my mind would be, "Do I even like this person?" "Will this work out?" and all that exciting pizzaz, instead of dissecting and doubting their thought process.

Of-course, I understand that not all LIs did this here so I'm not doing a mass projection. But the idea is somewhat universal. Every LI here is vulnerable and the game has them leaning on you for aid, one time or the other. But, honestly, whatever is offered, taking advantage of someone right off the bat, just doesn't sit right with me- even if they were the ones who offered it. Because I feel that if I take up on their offer in their weakened emotional state, I'd be reducing them to some sort of a prostitute. And you don't exactly treat real friends like that. At least not if you are playing a Lawful Good role. Either you help them in their need, or you do not. And I'd rather help them now without strings attached, and later once they are on their feet and emotionally stable, we could explore a more romantic angle.

Of-course that is just my POV. I do not mean to dis anyone on their choices and styles of dealing with the LIs, nor lecture the dev to change anything. In-fact, I'm here for the ride and the story as it's envisioned to be.

it makes sense. but it's only for your own ego and conscience, I think. or at least the character you are playing.
there is still an imbalance either way because if you helped them before engaging in the romance, then there will be gratitude and thankfulness at the start, and because you helped them a lot, those are not insignificant or forgettable. it's not just a random encounter where both are equals. the power dynamic will still be there. whether it's because of big financial difference, or because of prince charming/savior behavior, it's still there.
they would not engage you because they want to insure they get your help, but they would still want to thank you and reward you properly.
either way, MC is still sensible enough to separate actual attraction and feelings from just seduction for help or offering themselves as reward.

but with that concern, i think you would enjoy Ashe's and Gabby's paths, the way they are portrayed remove a lot of what you are focused about here.

in the end, it's still a porn game, so getting to the lewd part of relationships quicker than normal is a given, but everyone plays the game as they see fit. trying to avoid all the sex scenes until the motivation of both parties are satisfactory to you is certainly a valid way to enjoy it.

First of all I don't see it as being a simp at all. I just simply don't like the idea of taking advantage of Nicki for sex in that scenario even if she was taking advantage of us. I just simply rather choose to be a good person and help out a friend in need. Especially considering at that point it's chump change to Guy so it isn't even a big deal and from what I can tell Nicki is as close as Guy has to a best friend. I simply value friendship over all else as long as I still want the person to be a friend even if the other person was being a shitty friend at the moment.

Also it was clear Nicki didn't want to have sex but agreed to do so anyways because she knew what she was doing was shitty and manipulative. Which makes me feel like Guy is still raping her on some level even tho technically he isn't . I personally don't like playing Guy being manipulative or anywhere close to the dark path on my main saves. I only do so to see the content as im a completionist and on the Dark Path I ctrl skip past all the sex scenes.

I'm a pure good guy path player, I don't have issues with MC's being shitty or manipulative in other games but this game doing that just isn't for me for some reason. If I had to guess is because usually the end goal is sex when the MC in this game is being shitty and manipulative. When I play AVN's sex is never the goal for me even in porn AVN's. I like the scenes when my MC is just having a conversation / hanging out or what have you with the girls more than sex scenes in general. As I find lewds kind of boring to me most of the time and just something nice to look at nothing more. All this game makes me want to do is romance the girls and help them out without strings attached , as that's the kind of person I would be normally anyways. I don't quite self insert as I play disconnected from MC's especially this one. However Neon usually gives us enough choices that I can act in away I would normally act or want to act if I was this MC most of the time.

So when NeonGhost said in the rework we can give Nicki money without sex I got excited.

honestly, I didn't read the first chapter like you. what really bothered me was that Nicki cheated on Brent very easily, even though she is described as very faithful and loyal. Brent is such a shitty boyfriend that if she wasn't super faithful and loyal, that relationship wouldn't have lasted a tenth of what it had.
but in the scene, she does is willingly, she offers it herself. it's not MC that asks. he offers his help for free at first. then she realizes his feelings and her own, and just dives in. she might have been desperate enough to be out of character in that moment when MC fixes her problem, but it's still a big leap to make. but I agree that MC should have at least the chance to refuse the sex. it's also understandable that walking away from the girl that you have loved for many years throwing herself at you is a herculean task. though this game being about choices, it was a little slap in the face of the player to have the choice taken away

it doesn't. play through Brit romance act to see the contradicting nature of the writing. After u got the video from him u can see Brit's bf who's a guy that likes to do all kind of degrading things to his ex-gf and his current gf. He literally tied Brit up and blindfolded her then invited a guy over to fck her. He turned into a this deep, romantic, shakespeare level of poetry guy that got sad after finding out MC just slept with Brit after punching him. I literally LOLed at that scene. Writing's mid but some models are pretty good.

Jamie didn't invite his friend to fuck her. it was to watch and record her. it's still very fucked up. boundaries and consent are very flexible concepts to him.

I'm kind of dissapointed there aren't any slutty girls to romance. For example imagine if we met a prostitute or something but we show her there is more to life and a wholesome romance ends up blossoming between us.

I have been thinking about Nicki lately well more than usual anyway and one of the reasons I love her so much is that not only would she be a good wife but she would also be my best friend and the person I trust the most all rolled into one.
She's also the kind of girl who would sit beside me and play video games with me and I love that. The only person who can hope to match her is Mason imo.
