I don't understand this game!?
I'm basically being the good guy, by r*ping everyone I possibly can, yet still no one seems to like me as a person.
Is there an issue with the code?
There is no one who understands women. You rape them and they hate you. Ungrateful whores... They should be grateful that you take the trouble to rape and humiliate them.

Whatever...called knowing the difference between reality and fiction ;)
I think you're being a little disingenuous with this take, bro.

Of course, there is a difference between reality and fiction, but ever since people learned to tell stories, they have had a way to live a little in a simulated reality and feel the feelings and emotions that the characters of the fiction experience. It's only a matter of how good the reality is simulated.

Obviously, for most people, watching a movie will allow them to become much more immersed and feel the thrills of the story than reading a book, where you need to have a very developed imagination to get immersed in the story. And the use of virtual reality in combination with sensory deprivation activates the same areas of the brain and neural connections as real world stimuli, so that the subject's brain is practically unable to distinguish reality from fiction.

It's good that AVNs do not yet allow you to achieve such a level of immersion in fictional reality. :KEK:
But I think, they are superior to even movies in some ways, since usually the player acts on behalf of the main character and makes decisions about MC's actions changing the story flow. And a well-written plot and graphics make what is happening on the screen quite convincing, at least during the playthrough.

So yes, when AVN is done well, it helps the player believe in the fictional world and its characters and feel an emotional connection to them. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of cg-illustrations for a mediocre story. And I guess many people don't want to experiment with a roleplaying a rapist and an asshole. However the question stands, why they play the dark path when all the tags and warnings are in place.

By the way, they often make the argument that you are bothered by the dark themes in AVNs but at the same time you easily run over pedestrians in GTA. I think the issue is exactly what I wrote above: thanks to a fairly well-written, gripping storyline and deep, living characters, the player perceives and experiences what is happening in AVN too personally.

It is just about empathy and how it is easier to be triggered.
Reading books or watching movie is like someone else's horrible shit. The author write it. In this game, or other VN, you are the one making the choice. It is not just a story. You choose to hurt someone. That makes it easier for us to have empathy. Making a choice means you are actively participating.
Also, the description is important. You can see the girls suffering. In many video games, you kill the people and they just gone. The game does not emphasis what's their emotion, except some important characters.
This. Again, I know this is a game. But it's different then watching/reading someone else do it. Here, you are actively choosing to hurt them. I can't do that, even if it is fictional. And no, I am not some saint when it some to RL. ;)

My comment was more on 'if you can stomach my written description of what happens'...like seriously, get over yourself. With the images, it is a lot more powerful, will freely agree to that just as Des has explained. Just a written summary? Really? Like I said, I've read worse in every day stories from famous authors and you see worse on the news (than what he wrote as his summary).

Like these folk who have nightmares and can't sleep after watching a horror film...it's not real...it's entertainment...*shakes head* If you're that easily shocked or offended and need nerves of steel to read his 'description'...you should probably stay away from most media and live in your nice little bubble thinking about unicorns and roses ;)

(also, how long you had that quote open for...I deleted the post over an hour ago as decided it just wasn't worth it, you I respect enough to reply to properly).

Oops, seems I had it open quite a long time. :KEK:
Sometimes people post screenshots and they have 30-40 tabs open with f95 and who knows how many more behind the scrollbar :) I think I should limit myself to at least a dozen.

If you feel nothing when reading these stories they are either useless shitty porn games or you don't like the story but this is certainly a cut above most stuff here.

If I was a writer and people didn't feel anything when reading my story I would be ashamed of my work. Thankfully this awesome game delivers in every possible way.

Although a gallery would be cool.

Everyone feels what they feel and we should all respect that. Some are very apathetic and others are very empathetic, that's all.

A bit confrontational are we? As I said, you do you bud, but I'm sure you can find a better use for your time instead of getting salty because - *gasp* - someone posted a rape scene behind a spoiler.

To be blunt, you're not stating fact, you're shitposting (quite easy to do with anonymity, yeah?). If you feel the need to boast about your "bravado" then be my guest, but as I mentioned earlier I'm sure you can find better use for you time since you're "retired at 50". Maybe take up knitting? I hear it's all the rage for the elderly ;)

There is also the question of empathy as mentioned by others. But i mostly agree with your post, a good game can make you feel engaged with the story, the setting and the characters. Luckly Friends in Need is one of those.

ps: a gallery would be nice indeed.

Let's all try to be nice to each other in here, plzzzzz

I appreciate the discussion, though. I tend not to weigh in on certain topics, but it's always nice to see people's perspectives.

Also! Here's an incomplete/unfinished version of the Chesty Cheetahs exterior. I figured out how to make neon signs using a simple PNG file and Daz's billboard builder. Considerably better than buying the $20 neon sign kit on the Daz marketplace.. >_>

One of my patrons has actually been working on something for this, building on the work of an f95 member. But, the difficulty is that each scene has so many variations just based on variables/values that a traditional, main menu-launched gallery with playable scenes, is kind of difficult. So, the options at this point seem to be a gallery that launches to only one particular variation of a scene, or an option to choose, broadly, the nature of the scene, which would then still be sans certain customizations.

The other option is to have a gallery within a save file, where you can jump back to scenes you've played. But, at that point it seems like.. Why not just have save files for those scenes?

So, it remains a sticky wicket for the moment. I'd like to launch the Chapter One remake with some kind of gallery function in place. But, exactly what that might look like is still up in the air.

I thought the number of variables and stuff would be why there isn't a gallery. There are so many choices in how to interact with the characters in this game.

Of course, that's also one of the games strong points.

I would do that, but I don't like how messy the save pages look with multiple saves.
yeah that's harder to do with this game since I don't know how many paths there is going to be, especially if we get throuples or small harems paths in the future. ( I think I read that is something we might get not sure) I save each path on it's own page file plus with all the branching will just make things even more confusing if I did it for scenes. Now I could do it for my favorite scenes without it being messy would only need 1 -2 page files at most maybe 3.

Have you played "Long Live the Prince"? The gallery system that game has could be a good baseline idea for how this games gallery could work. I know that a menu would pop up that gives you all the varables that the characters in the scene could have, such as is this the first time this scene is happening? Is a certain spell active? Did you make x character your gf? Etc Etc...
Now admittedly, I don't know exactly how many variables are working under the hood for each scene in Friends in Need. If it's so many that every scene in the gallery would have 15 boxes pop up, yeah maybe we just stick with a simpler one. Idk. I think that this game is too good not to be able to see every scene again, especially if you want to check out a combo you may have never known existed for a scene. I think it'd be fun.
Just my two cents on the topic!
