putting in the taboo patch makes it so that the game doesnt work after a couple of dialogue is there a way to fix this?

It works just fine; and dialogue works just fine as well.
Sounds like something on your end as I've tested/played this game multiple times and from the beginning with/without the patch and all is good.
But...why? Is she just that badly written? Does she get up to some heinous action? I'm gonna try the game soon, but i've never seen a reaction to a character like this that wasn't either a NTR thing, or a Trap thing. And even then they don't try to mod the character out alotgether. lol

Mostly boils down to people see her as a goldigger even she isn't one. Or can't accept her explanation when she returns because she ghosted the MC for 3-6 months as she didn't want to take advantage of him again , so lived poorly for a time. Tho she did some things close in the realm of NTR to get by on her own ( off screen) but no it wasn't NTR. Also some just don't want her around cause she made some poor decisions. I could understand not wanting to make her a LI and keep her in the friend zone but not getting rid of her she hasn't done anything worthy of that.

In a way, it comes from players empathizing with Guy, leading to a "she's not good enough for him" narrative.
Personally, I feel Nicki is an important part of Guy's backstory and growth. She doesn't need to be best or main LI, imo she's needed in the story to remind Guy of his simpler roots and how much he had grown or so to speak, even if players are on the darker paths.

And if you're in the good path, he does care enough about her in order to not put her in danger (despite her blowing up on anger upon her best friend after he went to Lucien's place with Risa) because he's afraid more harm will come down upon her (I think he makes that clear when he asks Nicki about superhero weaknesses and one of them was bad people going after their loved ones, which then she understands). And if one chooses to go steady with Nicki, I wonder what the dev has in store planned for later updates.
So, she sounds just sort of...toxic?
I mean when 95% of games in this genre insist on some combination of creepy incest and she's-totally-not-12-honest LIs, the idea of a good ol' fashioned toxic chick sounds positively...quaint.
Nostalgic, even.

I wouldn't even say toxic. She is a good person just her abusive ex boyfriend got her to do one bad thing. She is honestly a really good friend to have for the MC , she just made bad life decision's. I mean she wasn't even asking the MC for help or money when she could have instead she decided to tough it out as long as possible. You will see when you play and form your own opinion.

I think chp 1 could've done a better job communicating Guy's and Nicki's prior relationship, and to some degree her intentions as well. But the author is already aware, so that's going to be resolved next update with the chp 1 remake.
But, it basically shows you what appears to be a textbook case of a woman who's trying to use sex appeal to get money from our MC, who's supposed to be her friend. She tries to explain her situation. Will the player accept it?
I honestly think everyone's reaction just depends on how naturally trusting or distrusting they are. Which ends up reflecting how trusting or distrusting the MC is, actually. Pretty brilliant, really.
I'm convinced that explains most of the disagreement on this. I'm sure many others won't see it that way and think it's purely that her character just needed to be executed better. Maybe. Yet, lots of others didn't have a problem with her. I think it's because we're willing to take the character at her word. I'm curious how the remake will affect all of this But you should honestly play it and decide for yourself, I wouldn't pay too much attention to others' opinions because the game is definitely great and absolutely worth playing. Even if you end up hating Nicki.If you really, really wanna know, it turns out the situation isn't actually what it seems, and if MC is patient and understanding and treats her well through the game, he will get a much better glimpse of what's actually going on in her head and why she does what she does. Hell, even in that very first scene, you can get a number of hints.
On the other hand, if MC wants to jump to a conclusion and smack a bitch to make himself feel better, he'll never figure that out. It's reflected in the story in that dark Guy only sees the bad in everyone and he has no trust he's willing to give, so Nicki's explanation just looks like a convenient sob story to manipulate him out of his newly found wealth; nice Guy sees people more positively, and is willing to give the benefit of the doubt. That's basically what Nicki needed.
Since 'Indeed' is the watered down patreon safe version of 'In Need', I imagine it doesn't matter much to release it early. Most people prefer the intended/full version. Judging by the $2 tier sub description, we should be getting a public release of 'In Need' in ~3 days.Curiously, 0.71 Indeed version is public, but 0.71 In Need version is still locked.
The wait for public release sucks, but giving little bonuses to paid subs breeds more paid subs which in turn allows Neon to keep churning out the magic.

It really doesn't add much though, just FYI: There are more bug/typo fixes. For story stuff, during Chapter 9 you can refuse to watch Ginger's video at Lucien's place (making him dislike you), and during a conversation about comics with Nicki, she shows you some images on her phone.

It's part of the reason that betas getting leaked here is bad news for devs, as it often means people only see the buggy versions, not the actual polished releases.

yeah it's why I wish devs wouldn't even do beta releases I know the reason behind them but when it gets leaked it sucks for everyone.
