$226.5 a month and hasn't posted a single thing since last year...sometimes it's hard to resist making your own slop
solution: never learn how to make it XD but the problem is, that then you have to live with the craving XD

the dev. has another job. this is a hobby for them. Also most games now days take 3 - 6 months to get released. assuming they don't have a team behind them.

I'm trying to learn Twine just got a new PC that will do it my Last good one HD's Crashed lost all data and I was working on other games that really sucked of course I was only editing text LOL.. If I'm able to learn it in my old age I'll try to do a Standalone Fan mod incorporating Gus's work obviously!

Oh... you definitely will. Twine sugarcube is super fun to learn itself and easy to use as well. It just that you'll need alot of time for the writing and finding the images

Those conditions shouldn't really be a barrier in learning how to use Twine to create a Story / Game. There are other older people, like myself, that are members of the Twine Community.:)
I understand I just have a little difficulty as I'm over 60 and have no prior coding Background.. The only thing I've done in Twine so far is edit text LOL

Plus I would like to start with Modding My understanding is that like with other games I've modded (with their Tools) learning the code should be easier if this info is wrong please let me know!

The best place to ask questions about Twine is on the official discord server, or in the Twine related sections of the Intfiction or Reddit web-sites. Links to these three locations can be found on the main page of the Twinery website.

Reviewing the code of an existing project, and making changes to it, is an often used method for learning how something works & what happens if you change it. But like any software project, some are "better" to learn from than others.

eg. reviewing the work of a 1st year apprentice cabinet maker may teach different things than reviewing the works of a 4th year apprentice or of a master cabinet maker.

Modding of any software project generally falls in a couple of categories / methodologies.

1: The "place mod files in a known folder so the project automatically loads that additional content" method.

None of the main Story Format have native support for this type of modding, however SugarCube does include some functionality that an Author can use to implement it if the Author is willing to put in the effort. There are only a handful of projects that I've encountered that have done so, and those Authors had to structure the internals of their code-base in specific ways to make such possible.

2: The "Edit the contents of a released Story HTML file" method.

This is the more common way an existing Twine project is modded, however ideally the modder doesn't actually edit the HTML file directly. Instead they should "decompile" the Passage & other meta-data from the HTML file, using either:
  • the Import feature of the Twine 2.x application to create their own Story Project from the HTML file.
  • a Twee Notation "compiler" to create a similar text based project from the same HTML file.
Now the Twine 2.x application, or a Text Editor in the case of a Twee Notation based project, can be used to review the Passage/CSS/JavaScript content in an un-encoded form. And the same tools can be used to generate a new Story HTML file after changes have been made to that content.

See That gets into areas I actually do not know enough about and while I am a member of Twine on discord they seem to single out issues I can't follow yet it's kind of frustrating TBH.

If possible, use the official application and avoid writing on notepad or other apps for now
Get Twine application

and use sugarcube cook book
after you are comfortable with that enough or just want to read more check this;

Don't use scripts and/or UI elements just plain sugar cube functions then you will slowly learn how to enjoy the story telling.
this steps should be enough to do alone without asking on discord.

Then when you are comfortable enough learn the languages that's where you get more detail questions on it and most questioned will be taken serious and answered.

Cheers
