Alright, so... I did not do any, umm, due diligence, when it came to Daz and the 50xxGPUs.
The current version of Daz studio is NOT compatible with the 50xx video cards due to an IRAY version mismatch, or something.

Long story short: All rendering is done through the CPU and NOT the GPU. And since I don't have another $2800 to downgrade back to my old 4090ti (it found a new home when I upgraded.), I have to slow-render everything.

I didn't realize this until I was 2 hours into rendering the first of two images.

FML... Suffering from success, or something like that.

Some time ago I came across several AMD Radeon owners on the Daz forum. Utilizing the they do their posing and such in DAZ and the rendering in Blender.

It doesn't get you IRAY-support (as far as I know) and incorporating the extra steps have proven to be quite a challenge at first. But I believe it will be faster in the end and less of a wear down for you CPU.

There's a 99% change you've already considered this approach, but just in case you haven't ... :)

I actually have considered this. Unfortunately, the sheer amount of images I have to make doesn't facilitate this approach. At least, not until I learn how to use Blender well enough to manipulate the models and assets fast enough to make up for the lost time.

That being said, I plan on using Blender for the animated cut scenes at some point. First, I need to learn how to import my models into Blender... I haven't had much luck with that.

Might be too much of an entry level suggestion, but could these and tutorials be of any help?

Or am I missing the point here? I assumed the overall process would be:
  1. Establish a permanent connection from DAZ to Blender only once.
  2. Setting up a scene in Daz (assets, poses, lights, camera's and all) like you're used to do.
  3. Then in stead of choosing rendering using Iray, going for export to Blender.
  4. Starting a semi-automatic sequence:
    • that imports the complete scene in Blender once; and
    • renders your first image.
  5. Then alter poses/ positions/ expressions/ camera back again in Daz, for the next image.
  6. Export to Blender again, updating the imported scene with the alterations from Daz.
  7. Render your second image;
  8. and so on ...
In which case the majority of asset/ model manipulation is done in Daz. But maybe that bridge function works differently, or lots of post-import tweaks are required.

Feel free to shove my input aside btw, in case its dragging you down more then being helpful. I am a designer newbie that never bridged Daz to Blender myself. I can only share the information I gathered online.

Yeah, it's more about the export/import of assets to Blender. Plus I have to look into something like a RenderQueue for batch rendering. There's also the whole "How do I use Blender?" thing. I like to make about 20-30 scenes and queue them all up and render them while I'm at work or sleeping.

Importing assets into Blender is tricky for me since I use alot of assets that don't have the built-in bridge that Daz to Blender offers. I would need Diffeomorphic and/or a few other plugins to make it work.

Your input is really good though. I'll definitely be looking into those links you shared. I'm always looking for advice and suggestions to make my workload easier or more fun.

I'll have to check those videos out. Every time I look for a PDF or something to help me out, it's always outdated. Thank you for finding these.

Alright, so... my thoughts.
I'm not too happy with the outcome. It took 2 hours to render 1 image at 1920 dpi, which is MUCH smaller than I usually render at. If one character and minimal environmental assets is too much, then it's gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOONG process.

So, what I think I'll do... is learn Blender. Maybe I can update a few of the "optional" scenes with some swank animation. I've always wanted to render Bryn in her solo scene on her bed (Bryn 1 scene if I remember correctly).

If I can get that to work, then I can work on some more. Which is now making me curious: Which scene would people really like to see animated? (NOTE: It has to be a scene that's already done and published. AND it'll be after I work on Bryn's scene.)

Have you heard of the Daz Alpha build? It works for 50xx rendering. Been using it myself. Pose in the regular, render in the alpha. Very fast

Yeah, i think the dev of BaDiK is basically using the method I mentioned above.
Success! I installed the alpha build and rendered the images with that. Went from 2 hours to 4 minutes! This was using lower render settings than I usually use, so I'll update them with my normal settings and re-render them to check the time again.

I was worried the alpha build would override the current one, but it installed in it's own directory. Unfortunately, I had to upgrade to the Premier Daz membership since the RenderQueue was bought from ManFriday and installed as a Premiere asset.

But, positive progress! Thank you kaldrangar! After I update my render settings, I'll be checking out the links from /\/30 and SirLecherous.
