We've all seen the games on here - start simple, ratchet up, time + some investment and boom, sexy naked ladies (and/or men) who seemingly bend over backwards just to get a glimpse of your sexy bits. Fairly standard fare, all things considered. But have you considered... playing the game in reverse?!
Seems a silly idea, but could actually tell a pretty interesting story, with pretty weird gameplay. Here's my pitch:
System: RPG Maker (for reasons listed below)
Plot: You (the main character) are known around the world/kingdom/area as either the Good King/Queen or the Bad King/Queen. During one of your boring days, you question whether the choices you made in the path you took to be the right choices, and go backwards through your own memories to significant points and places, trying to find the point where you decided to become like that.
Gameplay: You start out as a completely overpowered nigh-omnipotent, unkillable demi-god able to swat away big monsters with barely a thought, able to seduce/coerce people into having sex with you and seeing naked bodies everywhere. As you continue to go back in your memories, the battles get progressively harder (OHKO --> 2-Hit --> 4 Hit, etc.) and the people start needing more than just your word to do what you say, wearing more clothes, see some actions as wrong, etc.
End-Game: Your first memory is of watching your Family Member of Choice (FMoC) be the opposite choice you were at the beginning (Good/Bad). You have a final "fight" against said FMoC, in the form of a sparring session, too weak/passive to even land a meaningful blow. You are finally defeated, and left with how you want to grow up - the first main 'choice' of your life - but now have to reconcile the fact that you know where this choice ultimately leads, and you get an ending that aligns with that choice:
Start --> End:
Good --> Good: Your child is raised with love and affection like you were, but sees you as too lenient and weak to be a truly good leader for the people, deposing you.
Good --> Bad: Your child is raised with more of a strict household, sees you as a real tyrant, and goes on to usurp your position through an all-out war against you.
Bad --> Good: Your child is raised to be tough and fair, and in your attempt to be a better parent, coddled them too much so they grew arrogant and prideful, but ultimately weak.
Bad --> Bad: Your child isn't raised by you at all, wanting nothing more than to seek their revenge upon you and does to you what you did to your own FMoC.
It's not exactly a 'feel-good' kind of game, I get that, and the premise is... well, not original, but not overdone, either.
What do you think?
