Seeking Game Like LonaRPG

I did look for other threads on the topic, but they're either dated or doesn't have many responses.

I like LonaRPG because it has an interesting and very dark atmosphere. You really need to look out or otherwise you risk bad stuff happening. You can survive encounters in different ways, but importantly they all have consequences; Like Lona will get really depressed if assaulted etc.

Any good suggestions for a dark game like LonaRPG?

If you haven't seen it yet, degrees of lewdity is great with this sort of thing. You can very easily end up so depressed that you are, for example, sent to a corrupt mental asylum.

I've played it, and it was a very good recommendation. It was also my first text-based game, so that was new. Any other recommendations?

I advise you to avoid the word "grind" as an extremely unspecific. RPGM haters tend to call the entire engine a grind, and nothing you can do about it, cause what a grind is? A metaphor everyone is free to interpret.

As for the amount of routine and repetitive tasks or stat checks, its moderate or less. But the game is very slow to progress nonetheless.

I don't hate RPGM, and it seems like you understood just fine what I meant by "grind". While the term might not always be completely accurate, it is usually used to describe exactly the meaning that you used for it:

And I didn't understand what you meant, I assumed it.
Just like I could easily and reasonably assume something else, including or excluding aspects at my whim.
Eather naturally or just to prove the point.

And no, its not what its usually used for. Its what you think its usually used for, because you assume it, because you think its a fixed term, while in reality people use it however, often even without realising the differences.

Finally, the very fact we have to discuss this is the terms flaw itself. What a drag.

Thank you for the recommendation! I read the reviews for it, and they describe it as a game with rich lore and a dark setting. However, they also describe it as being unforgiving to the extend that it becomes detrimental to the game play. I'm all for a difficult game with choices and all.. but since it is a game, it should be an enjoyable experience as well. Apparently many of the reviewers thought it to be a tad too difficult.

Still, I might give it a try.

Princess Sacrifice is a good game that has a story similar to LonaRPG. It is more like Lord of the Rings/Epic Fantasy compared to LonaRPG's grimdark Warhammer fantasy. Unfortunately, it is not completely translated, but I can give you directions on how to apply the most current patch if you are interested, just send me a PM.

Dungeons&Prisoners is a perpetually unfinished game which is very similar to LonaRPG. Unfortunately it will never be finished.

Corrupt Garden - Vore Predation is a game about a girl who has been created by an evil corporation to feed little girls to her tentacle monster pokemon for rich fucks' amusement. PM me for a link.

If you just want one and done links for this site, then searching "Barony Sengia" should get you some games that you would like. Evening Starter isn't so much what you're looking for in terms of gameplay, but in terms of story, it's a modern day lovecraftian gritty noir detective game and their other games: Magician of the Olecta Desert and Escape from Fortress Lugohm are much more like what you're looking for: open-ended RPGs with dark, survival underdog undertones.

Otherwise, consider searching "Yukari." Knight and Princess, Thief and Princess, Thief and Troll are games styled in the CYOA of old. Many bad ends and extremely punishing gameplay like we're used to.

You might also want to consider Black Souls and Black Souls 2. I thought it was available here, but maybe not. As always, PM me if you need a link.

Dude, i don't regret trying your recommendation because they're spot on. Hell, i've become addicted to Black Souls trilogy after finished the first Black Souls. Thanks, man
