Seeking Games That Handle Mental Illness Well

Not talking about games that are so poorly written that they accidentally make the characters seem schizophrenic.

Looking for something that has either the MC or a love interest (preferably the latter) going through some shit mental-health wise and overcoming. But, ya know, done well. I really enjoy stories like that.

Hook me up with some dark, heart-wrenching shit?

Thanks in advance, y'all.

Not sure about porn games, the subject matter is a bit muddled and most people are afraid to tip their toes in it, plus it can cause cancelling of the highest order.
But you should read Asper Girl manga. That means to be like what you are looking for.

Mental illness covers many subjects. There are games about depression, amnesia, some about anxiety, also about psychosis in some form. Anxiety usually in the context of a trainer game. And many games have plenty of narcissism involved. Limited due to the Site troubles, but from the top of my head (and using google):
Teaching feeling
My girlfriend's Amnesia
Amnesia - but I don't know the game
Dream Therapy and some by the same author
Cinderella Escape!

There are also many games about mind control, which is a tag you can search for - if the site is working.

"Leap Of Faith". Look no further.

On a related note, "Something to Write About: The Author".
"Summer's gone" fits also, but it's on quite an early stage apparently, there's still much to tell in the story department.

I'll check these out, thank you. Appreciate you fetching the links for me, the site isn't easy to navigate right now, sadly.

Thank you for reminding me about Leap of Faith, it's basically what I'm looking for to a tee, I'd totally forgotten how good it was. Excited to give Summer's Gone a proper try, as well.

If Leap of faith is what you're looking for, then I'm not sure my suggestions are good enough. Since this is a porn site most only touch the subject. Maybe Dream therapy comes closest. You may have more luck searching for visual novels in general. Maybe some mentioned here? Also found this:

Games can be such a unique medium for exploring complex issues like mental health. If you're still on the hunt, "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" tackles psychosis in an incredibly nuanced way. It's dark, heart-wrenching, and very well-researched.
Speaking of mental health in media, it's crucial that games or any storytelling medium handle topics like schizophrenia carefully. While we're discussing characters potentially going through "some shit mental-health wise," it’s worth noting how challenging and nuanced conditions like schizophrenia are. The can sometimes be subtle and are often misunderstood, making accurate portrayal all the more important.
