It wasn't even "more on model" it just straight up looked bad. Like the linework was amateur, the posing was stiff, and everyone had weirdly drawn tits, it was just bad.

Yeah, Spaaka really does it well with the new art. I will admit, Amethyst is a bit too endowed, but that's really my only fault with it. Everyone else looks perfectly fine.
Amethyst would give herself massive tits though. It just makes sense especially in this hornier Steven Universe.
One of the early scenes with Amethyst has her gem damaged and one of the side effects is much larger tits, which get reverted to normal by the end of the scene. Her new "default" tits almost seems like they were experimenting with making her breasts toggleable between the original and "bigger than your head" sizes. Personally, I prefer the original as "bigger than your head" is my limit before I start thinking those must be painful.
Not a fan of the new amethyst big tits, seems to be the biggest complaint in this update. I remember the dev mentioned there's a reason for the change in Amethyt's story, so I'll wait till then to judge it.
Other than that, the new art is an improvement in every way imo. So even if I don't like the Amethyst change, everything else is 10/10.

Funny thing is I started the game new specifically to see the new Amethyst cgs and only one of them was updated to reflect the new style

Played through both redemption and corruption, both storylines were pretty enjoyable. I'm just looking forward to future content, but I have a feeling that's the artist is going to have to redo a lot more scenes.
is this game currently worth playing? Heard there's some sort of art rework going on or something? Got to the part where i needed to get pearl some anatomy examples but couldn't find them so i searched and found a old post about talking to lars and clicking quest which would tell you where they are but...even after talking to him over and over for a few in game days every night, His quest option was still greyed out

Depends on what you're playing for. If you want to see a bunch of gems and humans having sex with Steven you'll get a bunch of enjoyment out of current content. Plot wise it ain't done yet, and that'll probably go on the backburner while the new artists go through current content and try to equalize art styles.
I believe the anatomy examples are in the lighthouse.
