Thought I'm gonna write all of the small tricks for daz down I've learned so far, to get a better workflow and to remember myself because I tend to forget things I don't use regulary^^
Contributions welcome :)

This is not about rendering or creating scenes, but to make working with Daz itself easier/faster!

How to:
Reset sliders:

hold alt + double click on a slider

duplicate an asset/obejct in the scene:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

create several instances of an asset/object in the scene (instances reduce the load on the scene because unlike copys, they are not created as new objects, but are more like editable mirrors of the original):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

move the viewport to an object in the scene (very usefull if the vieport is far away from the center of the screen when you add a new object or asset):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

quickly create wet skin in iray:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

this is something I know many people don't know or simply do it the wrong way:
lock bones (keep bodyparts in place while moving others):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

create "Depth of Field" (dof):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

change the render settings WHILE rendering (4.11+):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

use only a part of a pose (thx no__name):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

render only a part of a full render (thx no__name):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

remove parts of an object/asset (e.g. a wall) (thx no__name):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Transferring Morphs (thx no__name):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Lock characters eye (view) to the camera (thx Rico Caramba):

Usefull knowledge/Mini tutorials:

Use every g3 pose on a g8 character and vice versa:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Bloom 'basic' values & Color temperature (thx no__name):
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Iray uber base shader settings and their effect:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Reduce rendering time with the Iray interior camera (thx no__name)

PS: can't add too much content anymore, so I have to link posts^^

More to come.

Didn't know the active pose tricks
Few tricks I use o/

Partial pose:
Let's say you just want the left arm pose in a full body pose.
Double click on your char and go up to the left collar
Right click -> select -> select children

DAZStudio_49GLQlirTl.png

Now go to the pose you want but you CTRL + double click instead :
nodes : selected
propagation : selected only
(you can also uncheck XYZ translation for poses that move your char far away)

Partial Render:

Select Spot Render Tool

DAZStudio_mJWvLm7Ylj.png

Then, tool setting panel -> new window

DAZStudio_VRYsgeCcLN.png

Removing A wall/something

Select Geometry Editor Tool

DAZStudio_OuWHk6FdRu.png

Then tool setting panel, select the thing you want to remove in Face Groups or in Surface (it should be highlighted in the color you want)

DAZStudio_gjtGCeXkk9.png

Then right click -> Geometrie Selection -> Face Groups or Surface -> Name of the thing you want to delete

DAZStudio_efGeNrQO91.png

And finally geometry editing -> delete selected polygon(s). (you may have to hide them before deleting them in older version of daz)

Nice one! Thx.
Would you mind if I add them to the op?

As an addition to the "Remove a wall/something": You can also use this to "split" an asset by duplicating it and deleting the part you want to split on the original, and the other part on the copy.

Transferring Morphs:

Let's say you have 2 kinda similars cloth, like a pair a panties, and want to transfert morphs from one to another. Load the 2 pair of panties on your char.

Select the target pantie, Edit>Object>Transfert Utility.
In the new window, select the source and the target, uncheck everything except 'Morph Target', Extended option -> From source:All, and hit accept. Transferred morphs will appears in the Parameter panel (not the shaping one)

Bloom 'basic' values & Color temperature :

Because I always find myself googling for it

Create a custom action (your own menu/shortcut)

Imagine you have a script (or any duf file) you use a lot and you want it on his own menu.
First hit "F3", go on the menu section on the right, click right on "Main menu bar" -> "add submenu" and type whatever you want.

01.png

Drag and drop the submenu (yes it can be tedious) where you want it to go, last position in my case. Hit apply & accept.

02.png

Go to any file you want to shortcut, right clik, "create custom action" and click ok.

03.png

Hit F3 again, and double click on "custom" on the left, and drag & drop on the submenu you created later, then hit apply & accept.

04.png
05.png

Last but not least, if you don't do this next time you restart Daz your custom menu will disappear. Hit F4 to save your layout, enter whatever name you want.

lol, just a minute ago I told someone on discord how to do that xD
btw the short way would be to just right click on whatever you want to have in there, select "create custom action" and hit accept.

Yeah at first I've done that, drop everything in favorite... But as soon as assets accumulate, it can be quite messy to say at least o_O. Once you got your shaders/lights/parameters/scripts/etc.. submenus, you just can't go back :ROFLMAO: (and god almighty that customize interface is not user friendly)

Reduce your rendering time using an Iray interior cam.

You can download Iray interior cam .

Iray interior cam is generally used to shoot indoor scene with HDRI without removing things likes ceilings, windows or whatever. That alone can make it a great tool. BUT Iray camera can be also good to shoot any scenes - and the gain of time can be quite massive (around 25% to 50%). It will not render anything that is not in the camera field of view.

What you render with a normal cam :

NORMALCAMRENDER.png

What you render with an Iray interior cam :

IRAYCAMRENDER.png

Way less.
Now it comes with a cost and a drop in quality of your lightnings and reflections (water, mirrors, windows...) won't work well.

A scene-only bright scene:

A scene-only night scene:

NORMAL_CAM_NIGHT.png
IRAY_CAM_NIGHT.png

Now I don't think it's quite useful for small scenes due to diminish return (render under ~1hour), but for "iterations intensive" ones, animations, or people on small graphic card it can be really great.
