I know about that post. And you know what? It doesn't affect me personally, because I've found out about this game through F95, which is a forum all about pirated adult games, and I've been a supporter of RNGeusEX on Patreon pretty much since I've first played this game:

And to be fair: the number RNGeusEX posted (93% of their game got pirated) shouldn't surprise anybody, I bet most devs have to deal with those high numbers. Games (or software in general) will always get pirated -- but for some people boards with pirated games like F95 is the only way for them to find new games which they then want to support. (Btw: living in Germany is the worst when it comes to adult games in general, as i.e. Steam blocks ALL adult content whatsoever!)


I still don't get what this has to do with my post that you've quoted though: Nobody is going to use AI to "take over" RNGeusEX's job and continue/change their game. But as a player, I'd just like to play around with technology and see what can be done and just have some fun with some (game) characters I like.

I recently started playing with some AI generated images, and although far from being perfect, it's still quite impressive what can be done these days.

Yup, crazy what technology is capable of if the right people created it. Having lots of fun with the sexy.ai tool lately myself. I just hope artists will only use it to improve existing artworks, not create them entirely with the help of such tools.

The entire "AI created stuff" thingy probably won't vanish anymore so it won't hurt to get experience with those AI tools.

'take over' might be a bit much, but while this site is mostly pirate stuff, the OP is from the dev themself. At the moment, stuff is still calm, but I'm not sure if it stay that way a few update after the last public version is posted. It's probably just unnecessary worry on my part.

The beta of Goodbye Eternity on the new Godot game engine will be released between Wednesday and Friday.​

As I mentioned in my previous message, this version of the game will only include the story from 0.7.9. We will try to track down as many bugs as possible before the final release, which will be about ten days later.​

No matter what, version 0.8 will be released in December, and I won't go on vacation until it's done.​

yeah, the creators of ark went that route too, once they figured out they didn't have the budget to do ark 2 still.
no, we get ark for current gen, drip fed the old 'dlc' packs for free, but with new dlc attached to them, and eventually a few new maps, but mod support on console.
then, like a year and a half later, we might get to see ark 2 becoming a thing.

Maybe I'm stupid, but how does that make sense? So he was offering the game free off charge but then complains about pirating?

Either way it's not the consumers fault. So many game developers have ran away with the money and never completed their games, giving updates only after long periods of time. That's what happens, people rather wait and see and pay later on.

There never was a free version of the game. Or, to be more accurate: there never was an up-to-date free version of the game. AFAIK at some point RNGeusEX published a demo version for free, but those were older version of their game (and maybe not even animated, but I might be wrong about that).

If you're wondering about the OP: RNGeusEX never has published any current version of their game on F95 ever. Someone else has done so (someone from the "Uploader team"). But as a developer of that game, if you request a developer tag, I think you can kinda "takeover" the OP. And if you read the OP carefully, you will notice the following:



So yes -- RNGeusEX has been active in this thread, but never shared their own game, because their game isn't available for free. If you like the game, there are many options to support the developer (see OP), and please do so!

Thanks for the response, but I was just going by what was written in the blog post I quoted.

I'm well aware that the free releases are not available at the same time as patreon, but either way each version was free up until that blog post. So it's still kind of weird to complain about pirating and then decide to not release any more free versions. You really think people who don't want to pay will not wait and get patreon?

It was just confusing.

I'm planning on buying this game if it's good, but the demo is very lackluster imo. Anyway I hope you have a great day!

You're wrong on that point. As I said, no version of this game so far were available for free except the (outdated) demo versions. Check

So: if you want to get the current up-to-date version of the game, you'll have to either get it through subscribing to the developer on any of the above mentioned sites, buying it on GOG, or getting a pirated version of it. And that's exactly what RNGeusEX was referring to: 90+% of version 0.7.9 being played right now are pirated.
