pal the game needs a computer with 13 year old cards, you don't need to buy an rtx.
and they are not even hundreds of dollars the GT 1030 a 8 year old card is worth about 70 dollars and has vulkan support.

or if you have a processor from around 2014-2015 they probably have integrated graphics that already support vulkan.

and i'm not defending the dev, the engine change seems stupid to me, godot is a very good engine but i don't see the need to use it to make a pure visual novel.

but this complaint is stupid, if there are people with pc's with 10 year old components it's about time for an upgrade.

I'll admit that I exaggerated the cost (as at scorptec you can get a 1650 for about 250 aud), the point still stands that people shouldn't have to upgrade their pc to be able to play it, though as you've also said if your running ddr3 era or early ddr4 (ddr4 is 10 years old as it came out in 2014) components it would be good to upgrade especially if your running ddr3 era parts.

It's worth keeping in mind that at least some people on here will have bought the game, I personally bought it on Itch.

Obviously there are going to be a lot of pirates on here but based on discussions in other threads I think a fair few people just use this site as a forum and don't download the pirated releases.

yes, I know and those people have all the right to complain if the game doesn't work anymore.

but well maybe I'm wrong but I doubt that that the majority of the people who has a pc with components more than 10 years old has bought the game.

Maybe adding a "Skip to new content" button

Let me take a step back and summarize something for everyone:
We're talking about dev that communicated on discord, that fixing bugs (the same ones that some members of our community already found solutions for) will take at least couple of months.
Talking about adding a skip button, by the dev, that could not figure out, how to make an "OK" button hiding the notification.
Yeah, better to not get ahead of ourselves.

ah yes, we don't have the right to complain about a broken update with an engine change that was really on made to add animations that weren't even fucking needed, while also stopping some people from being able to play the game without spending hundreds to thousands to get a better gpu so that they can keep playing it, yeah your totally right no one has a right to complain about a dev's idiotic decisions. game only crashes if you hold control to skip text or if you just keep clicking too fast to skip text while animations are playing too as long as you don't do that you shouldn't have any issues assuming you're on pc. That's my experience at least

the people who bought it? obviously, they must be complaining about the bugs and crashes like everyone else, but I doubt that anyone who bought it is complaining that the game doesn't open on their old PC (which is what I'm talking about), people who have a PC with components more than a decade old don't sound like people who spend money on this.

No I am specifically talking about the Vulkan requirement. So many crash/vulkan error issues reported in the discord lol

Been a while since I last touched this game. Please correct me if I am wrong. Dev changed the engine to have a new shiny thing to play and to increase his own experience with new tech. And being a newbie, he released a completely buggy version with system requirements like Cyberpunk that crashes every 3 mins. He also got a star, or maybe a DC virus, and refuses to admit that it was a mistake. So this game is literally on the path where actual content updates will be sparse and the developer will be mostly busy improving his coding skills, but the patrons will still have to pay him for it. Ultimately, this is another game that will have no chances to be finished or even get a reasonable amount of content in the next 3+ years.

your saves are incompatible with this update as the dev made the idiotic choice to change the engine from ren'py to godot (and all it was really for was to add pointless animations to the game, since a porn game doesn't need them to be good, LoSeSb being a good example)
also your saves are now located at C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Goodbye Eternity\saves

i wouldnt call them pointless i personally enjoyed them especially with the voice effects. mind you i just started a couple days ago with this VN but ive dealt with worse like ones without animations crashing. the only thing i dont like so far is that i cant really go back and change a choice or save before a choice but thats just me i guess. also im getting it for free so who knows maybe theyll get better maybe not we will just have to see but i think its more understandable that this issue happens at the initial switch than later on. but i cant understand your frustrations and hope you have a good one.
