No problems that I am aware of. I just used it for convenience. Important files like "en.po" and ".dialogue" can be accessed directly from inside .exe without extraction, they are not encoded.

Renpy works well for these type of games, simply as that. You aren't developing a AAA game for Sony, you are creating a porn game, nothing more nothing less. Second, I am not defending Summertime Saga, I was even opposed when the people decided to go for the infamous "tech update" and I said that it was impossible to do that in only 4 months with the lot of problems his team had in the moment and the lot of work it could take before he finished the game. This has nothing to do with the time, is more with the necessity of doing this change. There is a lot of people angry about it and with reason. Let that sink really deep in your brain.
The problem begun when he decided to change engines without reason and you are in the way of become like one of DarkCookie followers. You are doom my friend, but i think maybe there is still time for you to change.

Just ran the windows build thru GDRE and it did load and launch in the godot (spine) editor. Didn't test very far but this is a huge win for modding, It's probably possible fix the issues with OpenGL now too

Too late that ship sailed. At least Summertime saga had a decent run before it's bullshit. The output these guys had slowed considerably before they did this after an exceptionally strong first release. The subsequent releases got smaller each update until we magically "needed" this engine update. The game was barely twice as large as its original release by that point too.

Summertime saga actually finished most of their story. Meanwhile extra life is stuck with introducing new useless character with no seggs.
