Unless you're watching it for the "plot" in VN, it is totally fine to watch anime first and then deepen your context of grisaia world through VN.

Is this and the sequel series with the new girls worth getting into if you were a fan of the original 3 games?

I categorically disagree. That makes no sense.
Let me put this in simple terms, the Visual Novel took me and most people an average reading time ( for all the routes ), of around 70 - 80 Hrs ( maybe less if you read really fast and skip through most of the voices ). But don't expect to complete it with less than 60 or so Hrs, it's not feasible.
The Anime, aka the first season which attempts to cover the events of the first and biggest game in the series, with 13 Ep with around 20 min each not counting the credits, have a measly 260 Minutes of combined content.
So we have - 80 Hours VS 260 Minutes ( aka 4.3 and something Hours ). Needless to say the Anime didn't just shorten the story, it chopped some of it's figurative limbs off.
So you're saying people should watch the anime, and then use the Vn as sort of a ''addon'' ?
Saying reading the Vn will ''deepen context'', is a gigantic understatement, it won't deepen it, because you won't have half the context in the first place just by watching the Anime.
Nope, I strongly advise against it.
The other seasons are just as bad, season 2 - 3 I believe cover the story that is continued with ''Eden Of Grisaia'' sequel, that Vn if I'm not mistaken took me around 30 Hrs.

This vn is not about them. Heck, this vn is not even about Phantom trigger cast. This vn is about new third cast - class D of Mihama and some other employers of SORD. A lot of them had awful childhood and we need to help them overcome it. Typical usual Grisaia. Especially Ena's story was impactful, brutal and really had Grisaia vibe.
Except for the first trilogy, I didn't even read pass PT chap 2, now even have to read a total new cast while the old ones are just there to pull the old reader back? So yeah, I don't think I will read this. Also didn't the first cast got pregnant with Yuuji's kids and stuff. Now how can they be back?

The anime serve more as a hook for inviting people into the series. You could just binge watch the entire season in a day while skipping op/ed. I actually started grisaia with anime, and the anime manage to pique my interest which lead to the VN. Point is, if you can enjoy the series with less time, that would actually be a advantages. (especially if you're a adult)

I was in the same boat actually, Anime hooked me in ( just the few episodes, didn't bother finishing it ), and then I realized it must've skipped some of the source material so I bought the Vn.
But still, I think it would be a more enjoyable experience if people started with the Vn in the first place. ''If you can enjoy the series with less time, it would be an advantage'', but would you ? Seeing as the Anime is so incredibly rushed you would be pushing yourself to enjoy something much inferior to the actual series. Even the scenes the Anime did include, are very shallow due to the rushed world and story building, plus the Vn medium allows for far more descriptive communications to the reader than a rushed Anime scene.
You're basically, idk, buying some of the most high-quality coffee and then proceeding to dilute the shit out of it by filling half your cup with milk.
Or getting a expensive beef steak and dumping cheap fast-food ketchup all over it.

1. ''Fruit Of Grisaia'' - Where it all began.
2. ''The Labyrinth of Grisaia'' - direct continuing after-stories for all heroines, backstory and events regarding the MC, aswell as a short prelude for the next big installment.
3. ''The Leisure of Grisaia'', ''The Melody of Grisaia'' and ''The Afterglow of Grisaia''.
These are all side stories and backstories for events and characters you would have heard of in the first one, aswell as new characters that won't come into play again, but work as nice world-building, you can read them whenever, some take place before and shortly after the first game, but aren't incredibly essential to follow in a specific order. But best played after the first or second games.
4. ''The Eden of Grisaia'' - Last showdown, action packed, everything led up to this. Last installment in the Grisaia series.
Afterwards comes Phantom Trigger, but honestly you can play that pile of s whenever you want, since while it has the names of some key locations connected to the series, and makes some references here and there, it can be read entirely standalone from anything. Phantom Trigger is episodic, so just follow the numbers.
And after Phantom Trigger comes.... well, whatever the hell Frankenstein's abomination this is.

man...after almost 10 phantom trigger VNs, one gacha cashgrab and now this...thing...they are just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.
I just want more of the first story, grisaia just isnt the same quality without the original cast. is it soo hard to make a sequel to the 3rd one? just make it 4 years after the ending, everyone a little older and Michiru a fake tsundere mother, one big country comes selling a fight and there you go; plot...and obviously 18+

Hey man , since you seem to be a fan of Series (i've only read some route of the "Fruit of Grisaia" last year , i would read so
I've only read one route of the "Fruit of Grisaia" last year , i would read some other this week since i needed time to recover after these one (i'm on vacation for the week ) . This VN is really good but the problem is that it's so impactfull emotionaly , at least for me , that i will need that extra time before work.
Anyways , my questions will be this: After i finish "Fruit of Grisaia" , in your opinion , should i do the following games ? Where to stop before it become a shitshow ? Are they a canon ending after each game or did the second VN ("Labyrinth of Grisaia" ) used your save from Fruit of Grisaia to continue ?
The little garbage i saw from the anime tell me that they try to merge all the route into one and i hope they didn't do that in the sequel of Grisaia (labyrinth and the other one of the initial trilogy). Sorry for the questions but you seem the right person to answer to my question , thanks in advance .

To some extent, finishing the series could worsen the experience after the first game for you. Because unfortunately, they do kind of ''merge'' the routes, BUT, only for the final installment, Eden Of Grisaia. Although they don't so much as merge them but simply leave the romance on the side so they can deal with the looming conflict and terrorist threat.
So basically in Eden Of Grisaia Yuuji helped ALL Heroines solve their issues, but didn't commit to either, but then again, he might after the end, so I don't think merging the routes for a temporary while invalidates your choices.
Labyrinth Of Grisaia allows you to choose from the start what after-story for which heroine you wish to read, so no save needed.
As far as ''endings' are concerned. Fruit Of Grisaia will at the end of most routes show you how their lives will look in the far future. And Labyrinth Of Grisaia shows some days in their lives leading up to that, so it doesn't have any definitive ending anyways.
For me personally, I always read most mediums including Visual Novels with a ''multi-verse'' theory in my head. That means that there is no ''cannon'' ending. But simply different timelines where all possible choices can happen.
But, if you want, you could simply read Fruit Of Grisaia, then read Labyrinth Of Grisaia, and then all or none of the side-stories ( like Afterglow, Melody and Leisure Of Grisaia ), and simply don't read the last one, Eden Of Grisaia, because that is where the routes get merged. But then again, like I said, it is more of a, ''lets put the romance aside for a bit so we can deal with the more imminent threats'', it could be that Yuuji will choose to stay with one heroine after Eden Of Grisaia anyways.
Overall, you will have to choose if you want to read Eden Of Grisaia or not. Look I was also disappointed they merged the routes, but like I said, they had to for a short while. I'd say Eden Of Grisaia is worth reading.

Nah he died of old age because for some God-forsaken reason the writers said ''Hey why don't we make a continuation a fuckload of time in the future with completely new characters ?''.
But don't worry, because if Yuuji isn't around anymore, we now have Nameless Yuuji Clone ( I forgot his name ), this guy is basically Yuuji, but with long hair, much less charismatic, much less intense, less knowledgeable, non-existent backstory, no more witty remarks and Yuuji's trademark sense of humour, boring. Actually he's not Yuuji I take that back.

Is there any semi-official reason why they stopped adding seggs? The story went downhill with Eden, unfortunately, so I have no idea why they would throw away the only crutch holding it together.

Thanks for the answer , i'm not sure i will read eden because the romance was one the thing who make me emotionnaly attach to the character and wanted to delved into the story . But as you suggested , it may be a good idea to think more as a parrallele story , a "what if" scenario . I dunno why but i've nearly no problem to consider the other route as separate story but when it come to the next game , i've trouble if the continuity of the story are hugely disrupted , if they change a lof the premice of where the story stop .
I see where all of this will lead me . I expected to like eden of Grisaia less , but with the right mindset i think i will be able to like it nonetheless .
