I waited two years for ten different variations of rock-paper-scissors... I can't say that I'm a fan.

Good on the devs for cleaning up the code, and improving on their skills and art style, but I liked the old combat system a lot more than this new one. In v.308, it felt like a slow descent into submission; when Grove was being grappled, bit by bit, he would lose the battle. Now the focus is more on QTEs. To see an image, you now have to lose a QTE, then the enemy simply lets you go, so you can go right back to a QTE. It feels off theme, for the enemies to gain the upper-hand in combat, only to say, "haha, now let's see you try to fight me again."

Oh well, I guess it's time to wait another two years for them to rebuild the game back to where they were, just 'different'. *Sigh*

Also you think they'd put all the new mechanics in the demo to get feedback from everyone, but I think I can rest well if the Substar subs see the same issues being the timing for grapples.

The subscribestar version has big dudes in it
Wait, they also start to paywall exclusive contents? Maybe I was wrong to say their $8.5 monthly subscription is fair :(

TBF, the old RPGM combat system in v.308 was also boring when you need to repeat it,
but QTEs are So, Much, Worse :(. It's like one of the most notorious modern gaming invention, every lazy dev just spam QTEs in their game and call it a day, without really think about how it plays out.
(It also has nothing to do with how old you are despite what panaeon said )

Since it states "Test build", let's hope they do listen to feedbacks and improve upon it.
Let them hear what you guys feel about it, Not here, but on their official places like Itch, Discord, Subscribestar

Yes, the old RPGM combat was very bland. But I liked that it wasn't timed. I don't have much trouble with QTEs, personally, I just don't like them--you're right in that they're lazy.

This new build isn't all bad. The presentation is good, with updated art, graphics, and the like.

I hope most of the combat is like the test slime, after completing the demo. Leave the QTEs to traps. That'd be fine. I think the demo just went way overboard with 90% of it being this silly 3-color/symbol guessing game, with slight variations. It's annoying. I'd take bland over annoying any day. Let's hope this test isn't indicative of how often we'll see these QTEs.

mmm im kinda half and half. i suck at the memorizing, so i get punished way more in the demo for messing up, which is actually kinda nice since the RPGM combat is basically "be healthy or lose" and when youre in the gallery trying to get a specific enemy scene it takes FOREVER. Not just the lowering of the health, but the 4-5 turns to knock you down BEFORE the in-battle scenes happen. Here its much faster/easier to lose and get your scene (although we havnt seen it with health and armor mechanics yet so jurys still out if its TRULY easier). I do like the graphical improvements and the art and scenes are still top notch. Cant wait to watch the outpost grow from just an inn into what it was at the end of .308 in better graphics

Well, my bad then. If you're enforcing rules, try not to act so rude too.
In any case, we got a build.
there is no way to not be rude when dealing with bad behavior. at some point someone will say to you "you're acting badly"
saying "don't be rude" is not a valid response.

get used to being wrong and offended if you're breaking the rules.

...

you effing donkey!

Tried the update, is a weird change, i cant memorize everything, and feels a bit empty, but is challenging and more fun to surpass, if we see the slime in the end, maybe wont be so boring to procced it.

As far as I've understood it, it's not a remake, but a sequel really...at least story-wise
No, it's probably part of the remaster. Most likely, this can be moved to the beginning, as a tutorial. But there is one more thing. There will be no new content. The developer will launch a vote: release a remaster of Grove or suggest waiting for them to release a remaster with the completed chapter.

Don't think too much into it. It's just a tech build unrelated to the story. Tech builds are simply used to showcase the state of games.

How would a sequel even work? The world building was really only just being established. Iirc we don't even know Grove's stake in the plot.

I agree it's probably just tech demo stuff. Showing something new, especially after such a long wait, is more exciting than showing things the player already half have

Yeah, I know that this is a tech-demo. And probably it's just a showcase of new mechanics, or a future tutorial level. Anyway, remaster is being made, so I guess, We'll at least will get the game with better arts, maybe few more enemies... And after that, the dews could continue their work on a new chapter.
