IMHO the first game had darker atmosphere and more difficilty which made rape scenes more realistic since you indeed could've lose during the actual gameplay, while in this game you can only lose to an enemy who deals a lot of physical damage
Mana drain mechanic while being logical makes enemies like succubus completely non-dangerous and weak, even Eleanore is an easy boss because of that
