You have to use the item to change your movement speed to either double speed or quadruple speed, so if the items are invisible you can't win

I have the same problem. I'm pretty sure the interest level is bugged because mine's been at 13 for a while.

What the fuck is missing here? It doesn't look like I can advance at all without creating a swimsuit or rising my interest level to 3, but I have spoken to literally every NPC available and haven't found my answer.
