Don't confuse purchasing with donating. Donating implies that you are giving money without expecting anything in return thus it is called a donation a one way transaction. A purchase is when one party gives money to the other party in exchange for goods and services. In this case patreon is used in a purchasing capacity as you would be purchasing for the rights of "Information" "Future products" and "Exclusive perks". Patreon was designed to be used as a way to donate but is more of a store hub now then anything.

Confusing i know right? Patreon used as a "Donation portal" yet is sneakily used to basically act as a store front for anyone not wanting to deal with those pesky issues such as taxs and store front fees. Can you just use it to donate? Yes the capacity exists. Is doggie using it in that capacity? No they are using as a store front for the selling of information regarding game updates and exclusive content.

Also obligatory "You don't need to pay to get the content it's posted on here :D " No this website is a piracy website thus is the grey area of the argument due to it being a site where tons of paid for content is posted for free like the piratebay.
That's the same as girl scout cookies, yes you get cookies but the intent is to help. Those "bonuses" were given as Doogie's way to reward supporters, meaning people were supporting well before they were really receiving anything. Seems like the one confused is you :3

Thing i find funny is when people gets mad and try to defend the game because they paid for it. Listen if we are getting mad about the slow and lackluster updates then people who paid should feel twice as pissed. The furry game making curse continues, sllow and unfocused updates until game is scrapped or abandoned.
Fourfold when you get people like kittymaid and treat skeptical patrons and outsiders alike in a very belligerent manner.

Honestly, that fucker reminds me of the 2016 SJWs, Paul Joseph Watson and Anita Sarkeesian. The moment she declared that taking the dev's word of est. release as "pseudo-science" was basically her mind trying to win the debate in the most backwards manner. You cannot convince a committed ideologue of Doggie Bones about the production hell of the game, much like how you can't convince socialists to read Austrian Economics, or convince history curriculum designers to watch TIKhistory's videos. And I honestly don't think she'll ever be good-faith with this comment here either.

bro what the girl scouts make literally hundreds of millions of dollars on girl scout cookies, and all of that money goes straight to the leadership and not to the actual scouts themselves. you picked literally the absolute worst possible example to make your point.

That's where it's a losing battle. I know of certain free games that took a different approach and no one was happy about it...Except the fanboys. Game was getting a small piece of content every 6 months, yet they kept Patreon up, and one of their perks wasn't even active anymore, even if in Patreon they published it as a perk still.

The content updates were focused on things the community didn't ask; But what did the fanboys to? Kneel and suck, and praise the developer for allowing them to do it.

Typical story with another face; No matter what any singular developer does, there's going to be someone defending them because they like the product enough to become single-cellular beings that can only do 1 simple function; Suck.

this is factually incorrect. someone as the consumer is PURCHASING cookies from the scouts. the company is then "claiming" the proceeds will go to donation, which the vast majority of it does not. the act between consumer purchase and what the company does with said money AFTER PURCHASE are NOT associated. furthermore, the consumer spent money in the PURCHASING of a full box of cookies. that is a legally binding trade agreement between the two parties (consumer and company). if that box is not full and/or lacks of the proper product, then it IS the company that is at fault and legal action CAN be taken against them. the people on patreon are SPENDING NOT GIVING money in exchange for access to information, builds, early content and the continued development of the game. so, yes, the consumers that have SPENT money have every right to be upset when ALL of these transactions are not met.
