I know the last update was well before it, but I suspect Patreon cracking down on ABDL stuff has part to do with it.

I'm also over-analyzing a porn game, so who the fuck knows.

I looked it up and it's Mastercard and visa putting pressure on all platforms that allow the crowdfunding on adult games bc some have non consensual content or loli in them

Iirc some number of years ago they made a small mention of how they had a kid, I think. They never elaborated past that, and while it's understandable if it has affected their schedule over time, I don't really see why they wouldn't just share that in a news post on their Patreon. This thread was getting as bad as the Future Fragments thread for a while because Doggie went from updating once every 2-3 months with frequent news updates, to no more news updates and 3-4 months average time between updates, to now literally zero information about the game or what's in updates and 6-7 months update time.

People had good reason to be furious, but it's just sad to me that people spun it into some pitchfork mob trying to hang Doggie when the only thing anyone was really asking for was "can you please fucking explain why the updates have slowed to a crawl?" It's baffling how often hentai devs go the route of just "silently slowing down" their projects, then use the negativity surrounding their silence as a justification for why they went silent. That habit is the prime source of why people largely view Patreon funded projects as scams now, yet they all play the victim despite reinforcing why everyone is suspicious with their "u dont deserve to know what im doing unless u pay" attitudes.

And for what it's worth, many of you might be surprised to know Doggie is actually abnormally generous with the price and quality of their content; devs like SquashedFlat, a hyper-niche fart fetish furry dev (they advertise in Doggie's discord), charge 15 dollars a month just to get the latest build of their game (which is a barebones sidescroller that reuses the same animations and enemies constantly). The long and short of it is this: NEVER get your hopes up over furry game devs, they always either milk the living shit out of whales and slow their dev time to a crawl or they start degenerating into weirder and weirder fetishes. Often both.
Ehhh, as much as I understand the annoyance behind slow updates it's a bit of a misunderstanding (or misuse) of the patreon model. Patreon wasn't designed to sell products, it was designed to support creators, the idea being that if someone was working on something you liked, you'd give them some money every month in order to help them work on that, but that slowly began to twist into the model of "pay 10$ a month for updates to a game that will likely never see a 1.0 release" and led to infinite dev cycles focused on farming the die hard fans, (this isn't something limited to furry game devs, from what I've seen they're generally the best at actually keeping people happy with updates due to being able to keep a single topic as their focus, at least compared to all the DAZ3D VN's or RPGmaker ToT clones)

I actually find it funny that you bring up SquashedFlat because I honestly think that they manage to get the patreon model completely right by not falling into the pitfalls that most of the other devs do. Firstly they focus on making short to mid length games instead of having a single megaproject that is constantly being revised and added to without any end in sight (they even recently released the full and final version of the game they've been working on for the past few years.) Secondly, they stick to their niche and didn't devolve into letting voting polls control every aspect of the game and generally made content that most of their fans enjoyed, I think this is due to their interests being niche to begin with so they can focus on a single thing without the game spreading itself thin trying barely covering 20 different fetishes of which most people won't care for 19 of. Lastly, and I think most importantly, they released the game and updates for free, this is probably the biggest thing that I think most patreon creators get wrong, like I said, the patreon model is not designed for purchasing a product, and the issue is that if you have your patreon as the only way to access your product it will always seem like a bad deal due to the model being terrible for transactions.

To further elaborate, yes paying 15$ even once for a short length game isn't something I or most people would do but the issue is that some people make patreon subscriptions something purely transactional. The idea behind patreon is not that you're spending money to get access to a single product, but that you're funding the development of something that you care about seeing made, the benefits should be nothing more than bonuses for your geneorsity, things like early access to demos, sneak peeks of updates or (limited within reason) voting polls, all while either releasing your game for free after some time or hopefully finishing it and putting it up for sale. The issues begin when patreon is instead treated like a subscription service or purchase platform where you spend 10$-15$ (sometimes per month) in order to get access to an unfinished and unpolished product, anyone can see that it's a terrible deal which results in people getting angry, either due to not wanting to spend that much money, or when development slows down eventually (All games do this due to building up tech debt and needing to make sure a new update doesn't break everything else, and most games here aren't made by experienced devs to begin with) and people feel like their monthly money is being wasted as they aren't getting content, or in the case of a game trying to do too much, the content they get isn't the content that they wanted.

In short what I'm trying to say is that patreon should be a means to an end in terms of funding the game, not your storefront. When people want to pay for your game in order to play it, and instead learn that they need to pay what is essentially full price for an unfinished game that won't be updated unless they pay full price again, they aren't going to be happy.

At this point, the text adventure section of the furry devs are far more reliable and more active than the rest of the bunch. FOXXXDev did a very proper introduction on F95 itself, with pretty generous offers for demo players on itchio. Monster Girl Dreams, though not that much into furryness, is still a pseudo-masterpiece. Nranchs is very chill with the solo development of Rogschard, Lords and Loyalty. MaraTDuoDev is just a legend in its own right as a dev in F95. KPVT feels more like a F95 brony who decided to make a game.

And these are the ones that have decided to make an account here and interact with F95. Many more from this subgenre have a pretty solid roadmap, a story [HHP and LOK Tribes fans gasping], and good PR. You might be wondering why this is far more common for the furry text developers than the rest of the sect, where there's way too many misses and few hits outside of the aforementioned subgenre.

I only saw the last update being Sep 9th. Wonder why it got removed at all.
One of the requirements for the Abandoned flair is radio silence or abandonment confirmation from the dev. So if it can be shown that they're still working on a thing, Abandoned doesn't apply.

That's my point. Where's the news? One person who was asking for updates got banned out of the discord.
Wow.

->I asked about updates in Discord server.
->Was told that "free peasants" have to pay to know something.
->Made a small meme picture about it.
->Got BANNED on the server.

How very cool of them.
Lol.

P.S.
I guess no more info from me, a "free peasant" who wanted to know about the progress...
Unless it's because of this with no attached date:
I found this on their discord not long ago.

to be frank with you, even with this game's small stuff at the moment, it just really needs birth/pregnancy content and not pregnacy BAIT. I mean, at least it won't be stale scenery.

do you guys not have basic common sprite sheets and instead redraw a face animation like 90 times instead of relying off the tried and true common sprites? Like i can understand not using the same face all the time but what i'm getting at is that you can save time by using a common sheet of commonly used sprite animations and save yourselves some time
This is actually a great point. Having at least some kind of "template" placeholder of sorts that get replaced later would make it far better for workflow and release timing.
