That TikTok type of shorthand reply won't get you anywhere bud. Homie's profile is toast... vaya con Dios. You're pissing on a flat rock trying to reach someone that ain't there.

Indeed, what's important is the order in which it is coded. To understand it I'll break it down (for those who might be code illiterate):
the triggers are at init -997
the patch is at init -998
the VN's default to False is at init -999

See the order? The patch sits in the middle if applied and is seen as True by the triggers, otherwise it's always False. If the patch exists then it's True no matter what. BUT it must be placed correctly (inside the "game" folder, not any other folder).

You probably could care less but thought I'd explain how it works regardless. Glad you're up and running bud. Regards.
oh i do care, i changed htl.rpy back to figure out what the hell i'm doing wrong. So thanks for taking the time to respond! I think i finally found the problem: For me the "game" folder is the folder called "game" where all the rpy files are (after extraction). But it seems the patch has to go into the base folder (same location as HardtoLove.exe) and now it works.

P.S.: and you damn well should be using the mod :p
Ok i will ;)

Indeed. When folks are talking about RenPy VN's when they say "game" folder they mean the folder named "game" hence the quotes. It shouldn't work proper outside that folder unless this version of RenPy v8 is borked.

I just finished this update and I would say I'm pretty mixed about it. You have Paz, who was prettier in person than I imagined, showing up, which was nice. Along with some of the MC and Arlette's backstory. This was all of the good stuff this update, for me.

The mixed stuff came with the sudden japanese background used for said parts of the flashback. I get the dev's influence but it felt weird in game. The main cast conflict with that flashback, heavily. As for the sex scene with Aoi and the Ayame stuff, it felt a bit like filler. The Rina stuff at least was apart of something important with Arlette character. Aoi and by extension, Ayame, really weren't all that interesting. Overall, it just felt a bit unnecessary.

That's pretty much it. That's how I felt about this update, personally. The setting choice aside, which I felt was odd, I liked what happened with Paz and Arlette. It wasn't a bad update but it gave an inconsistent feeling while getting through it. I'm looking forward to the next update.

Wow your mod is amazing! I'm used to those "color choice for dialogue" mods that just mark the max content path, but this one is so much better, its astonishing! Kudos.
I told ya brother. I don't spend hundreds of hours creating code from scratch for nothing... I make these mods for my use and I'm a picky son of a gun. I'm pleased you're happy with it so far. SanchoMod does NOT do that "baby-shit green colored this choice is best" bullshit. No sir.

I had the same reaction. It was like I was suddenly playing a completely different game. This update was racial / setting / plot / pacing whiplash.
Yeah and I get that the dev is from Japan and likely just couldn't find enough Asian models to use but then you just suck it up and move your story elsewhere..
Yeah it is a questionable decision by the dev. The setting and the characters (except Nanami and couple others) doesnt match up. I guess I have to do some mental gymnastics while playing the game thinking it is in some weird alternate reality or something.
„I'm playing a game where my sister has been trying to fuck me my entire life but characters not fitting my imagined racial makeup is where I draw the line”. Fucking Yanks.

I cba to start a new playthrough. Can someone briefly explain who Arlette is, and why MC is telling some of her story to the Asian loli?

Wow
well, i should not have left to sleep, it seems
Right
Let's adress foreigners in the game
as of now, 2%-2,3%-2,5% of a population of Japan are foreigners, which is huge amount of people
with some percentage of it - being permanent residents
and i'm not even starting to talk about halfs, (well, as Paz and Arlette names are of european or south american descent), who, most of the time, have same rights, as their japanese parent
sure, we can talk about social-cultural aspect of far east asian mono-dominant cultures who have problems with nationalism and racism, but it's a porn-site with adult games, not 4chan
plus, it's not the first japanese game from japanese developer, that uses halfs or foreigners, i see and play, as in last 5 years, views on halfs, especially from modern young japanese members of society, get better (and also, dev is Japanese. I think they know better how situation out there)
second point - is the fact that the game was made for western audience
third - some parts of every story is always a bullshit, thats why we love them

and my short opinion in the end
after thousands of games being set in Tri-state area and using same assets over and over again, something set in Japan - is a positive thing, not sudden hit with hammer and sickle on your genitals
naturally, i can't and won't force you to think like me, but, at least i hope, that i made this situation a bit clearer

Edit: You folks know damn well why this update is like this. The mass pedos/kiddie-fawns begged and pleaded for "More Nanami please!!!!" while driving around IRL in their scary-ass short-wheelbase vans with tinted windows.
actually, Nanami's fanbase is quite small
and, story was layed out before 0.1 and follows original dev's plan, whatever it is

and thanks for the mod update

It' s also called ”The entire Western world has to be diverse but god forbid non-Japanese in Japan”. Never let go of that White Man's burden, did you?
Haven't gotten around to this update yet, nor am I in a rush to waste time seeing the negative response en masse. But last I checked, the only thing Japanese about this VN is the Sakura tree. A Sakura tree that, for all intents and purposes, didn't appear to be in Japan.

It's not just about the white people in Japan (though, if you've ever been, there's not a ton of Americans there. I was there for half a year and only ever ran across four that weren't tourists.), it's about everything not being Japanese. Let's make this basic as possible. Where does the VN take place? Japan. Do we see Japanese architecture? No. Do we see Japanese transportation (trains, subways, etc.)? No. Do we see a single Japanese person? No. In fact, all other ethnic groups make up 1% of Japan's total population. The game takes place in a specific culture and setting, yet everything is the polar opposite of it. How isn't that breaking immersion? But nah, you've gotta make it about race.

Dunning–Kruger is real, apparently.
