It should be mentioned though, that if you save the game with Lain's mod active, that save will essentially become dependent on it and you won't be able to reload it when the next update is released, at least until you also update the mod, which usually takes a bit longer.
At least, I think that's how it works. Someone who uses it will have to confirm this, but I'm sure I remember seeing it mentioned before.
This is correct. Whenever this game gets updated, it will usually take Lain a couple of weeks to update the mod to work with the new versions. Until then, any previous modded saves aren't likely to work.
No. Violet was a fan-created character so is not considered canon and not likely to get new content anytime in the foreseeable future.

IIRC this isn't the case, I think it's fine unless you do something dumb like save in the middle of one of Lain's new scenes. Then it won't work. Oh, and if you set one of the new wallpapers on the computer trying to open the computer without the mod installed will crash the game.
As a general rule, it's always best to not use a previous version of the mod with whatever the current game version is because it, obviously, wouldn't have whatever new content is added to the game, but there could be other errors depending on how much gets changed with the game update.
You might be able to play an updated game without the mod but loading a modded save will cause a couple of errors on the first load, at least. This is because Lain's mod changes a couple of the menus to incorporate "mod stuff." You may be able to "Ignore" the errors and continue without problems, but there could still be some unforeseen problems depending on how much of the game has been changed/updated.
