Might be a stretch in my own thinking but I assumed that Kali not wanting them to see Sanctuary was more on how the elves were treated and less about illegal going-ons happening there. The elves live like people, don't have to wear collars and can relax and be themselves. We see very few spots where such things happen. I'm sure the MC isn't the first person to treat their slave like a decent person, but story beats have shown us that it is very few who actually own elves who do so. There are plenty of Autumns and Vanessas in the world, but very few like the MC/Grandfather. This is even true from Lin's point of view, as one of her events calls this out to Autumn, and we all know how sheltered her life has been. Hell, 3 elves kidnap the MC just at a chance at a better life, as goofy as that all went.We also see Kali concerned about what happens if they see the sanctuary, suggesting that she thinks something illegal is going on there--and there isn't, unless you count sheltering Nia, but nobody knows her identity at this point.
Is that information useful to the Ascendents? Unknown. Could it be dangerous to the MC? Possibly. Cornwell was entirely surprised at Lin's performance during the challenge simply because she cared for the MC (assuming you bothered to level her stats to win it). What could he do with the information on how the MC treats his slaves?
All conjecture and possibly wrong. Just the way I read into it though.
